See "The rise to Daemonhood of the Daemon Prince Periclitor"
It describes an event called 'The last stand of the Terran Armoured Prefects' in M35.
As I doubt that Chaos set foot on Terra i presume these Terrans were fighting on another world.
So yes Terran regiments are sent elsewhere.

Does anyone have any canonical information regarding whether or not Imperial Guard regiments raised on Terra are dispersed throughout the galaxy and sent to distant battlefields.

I figure that a large proportion of levied troops remain on Terra for the duration of their service, along with the Adeptus Custodies. However, Terra is an amalgamation of many huge hive cities with countless billions of inhabitants and I can imagine that some regiments are dispatched to war zones across the galaxy.

If there is canonical background regarding Terran units then how are they armed in comparison to other Imperial Guard units? With the proximity of Mars I imagine quite well. Would Terran regiments have a higher proportion of Commissars and Priests?

Failing any printed (canonical) information, I'll settle for your opinions :D
