Is it possible to create a viable Wordbearers list similar to the last ED? Wordbearers are the only notable chaos force who's fluff I enjoy with the exception of Slannesh. The non FoC daemons means I can have an infinate number of them which is nice but can I create a Fluffy "Dark Apostle" with the new list? No I havent had a chance to look at the new dex yet to thats why Im asking.

If I wanted to create a fluffy Wordbearers list would it be best to wait and see if they make a comeback with the Codex: Daemons some time in the distant future?

The Dark Apostle is gone. No demagogue trait is in the game. If all you wanted him for was the +inv save, you can approximate him with a Tzeentch marked Lord with Daemon weapon.

That's not bad. As they all have an invulnerable save you could use whatever mark you wanted. As it stands though modelling is the only way to go.

As for Word Bearer's lists, yeah you can use lots of mediocre daemons now... yeah.

They actually seem to be performing well for the people who are using them.

That's a shame, I really liked that about the Word Bearers rules, I guess that settles it, I'm definately getting Black Legion now.

Background wise I've always seen Word Bearers as being rather maleable in so much as they worship all of the chaos gods, so in truth more so than any of the other legions they're probably the most flexible in terms of what you can and can't take background wise.

So yeah, I would say they're going to stay somewhat viable, I haven't got the codex so I could be wrong.

But yeah modeling is going to be the best way to represent the Dark Apostle if you wanted to stick with fluff and show the fools the true power of Chaos Undivided.

If you're interested in the legion I'd suggest waiting for the next Chaos codex to come out soonish which is rumoured to have a greater focus on Daemons.

No, they don't. They are just not as massivly powerful as they were before, but then again, they are also not as expensive as they were before.

And as qwertywraith said, Demons actually seemed to have worked for people who have tried them, rather than just decry them as 'teh suck'.

Closest you can get to a dark apostle is a tzeentch marked lord or sorceror... there's no demagogue, but if you load up on undivided icons you shouldn't miss it too much.

Tis a pitty, I always admired Word bearers as well mainly due to my love of Chaplains and idea of masses of expendable daemons slicing through my foes. I like the idea of the new daemons as well, and every report of ingame use has said they been balanced...something the old daemons definately were not.

Best way to stand in for Dark Apostle is as said, Mark of Tzeentch and Daemon Weapon...but don't forget the glory of house rules!!

New Daemons certainly don't suck. They suck relative to the old ones (unless you were fighting assaults with Horrors.. then they're better :p)

They're cheap, don't use a foc slot, and are pretty solid in combat. I've gone against them, and, if summoned in an apropriate location, they are more than effective.

(I do however, decry the loss of specific types of daemon, although the new codex should solve that. Just unfortunate it's going to be a year or so til then.)
