View Full Version : Vash'ya

Hey all, I'm building up my Tau army and wanted to theme them around the Vash'ya sept. Is there any official or unofficial fluff about Vash'ya anywhere (besides the sentence in the codex)? If not, what sept colour would you suggest? I've been thinking light blue, for the sole reason that they have a strong air caste.

Don't think so. Never came across them (except that sentence). Having a famous Air caste there doesn't help with army composition (unless you use many FW aircrafts). Not present in DoW. Not even the Tau decals from FW cover septs from the second sphere. So you will have a hard time, I guess.
But you have a free choice of colour schemes, but T'au desert camo and Sa'cea city camo are also used by other septs.

Well I have a colour scheme in mind (a CoD inspired one, with light grey armour and red fatigues), but I mostly need to figure out a sept colour. Even if there's no fluff regarding it, what would you suggest?

Take what you like, as there are no restrictions. Take a scheme that looks good on Fire Warriors, Suits and tanks/aircrafts. Maybe experiment with DoW Dark Crusade army schemes, if you have that game. Can't say anything else with so few information. Might also depend on the colours of your opponents armies, to make them stand out.
I have a standard Sa'cea camo scheme with big orange signs like in DoW. But I also like this sept and follow its fluff.

Well for my army, I'm using a light grey (3:1 Skull White:Astronomican Grey) with red cloth, which I based on the CoD cover (I do realise those Tau are supposedly white and not grey). However, I know say that the light grey armour ties in with the air caste and the sept's prowess in that area. I'm thinking mroe a blue sept colour at this stage.

Just paint a model and choose a sept colour that goes well with the other colours. Then justify it with background.

 I already have a colour scheme in mind. I was just asking if anyone had any educated guesses for Vash'ya background, from what little we know.

1) I'm thinking a blue sept colour, or light blue. Something that would reflect the air etc. because of the air caste ties. However, don't know it will look too good with the red. I'm open to suggestions.

2) What does it mean by 'between worlds' (fluff)

3) For background, would the sept most likely 'donate' ships to expansion forces (like the third sphere) or would they also launch their own exploratory fleets?

Not all skies are blue from the surface, not all air caste look at the sky from below, and not all pilots use air camo. So blue is not amndatory.

All septs are supposed to contribute to the expansion, so air caste may show up with their own Fire caste troops or others.

Well the blue was just an idea? I'm struggling to think of a good colour.:(

Well I suppose all septs would continue exploration...

Known as the world 'between spheres', members of the Kor caste have a long tradition on this planet, providing the majority of the pilots and ship crew for the early Tau expansions into space.

So any ideas about what GW mean when they say "the world 'between spheres'"?

So nobody knows what GW means by 'between worlds' (do they mean between septs...?)?

Also, how about Shadow Grey as a Sept colour?

Have a look at the map page 19.
The colonies are divided into three colonisation spheres. Vash'ya is a bit isolated between the first and second sphere. That's all.

ok, cool thanks. I guess I'll just have to make up the rest of the fluff. I wonder if anyone would be opposed to my hunter cadre flying around in a transport with escorts and possibly part of a small fleet.
