Im not much of an gamer, Im more of an modeler/painter guy.
And I love conversions so much that I more often than not make converions that I have no use for just for fun, so I thougt that I would share my loved conversions with Warseer.

So once a week Ill try to show you an old or new conversion and talk a little about it.

Week one: Mudworld trooper

The fluff for this one is that hes from an world so old that all the earth from decomposed plant has made it dificult to find any rocks or stones, that, combined with the lack of any plants with roots, has made the eath higly ustable on 78% of the planet. all the planets water is bound in the mud and it rains constantly.

and thats why the model has an rainhat, big coat and an showel.

Week 2: bearserk

This one is an bearman I didnt have an shield for, so I did the obvius thing and made him into an thug for my inqisitor army.

The fluff:
raht shaiht is from an deathworld called kcraitt, where the right of passing for the warrior caste is ritiual scaring of the face performed by the citys matriarks, after the cermony the man puts on his klaht (warriors hat) and may only take it of alone with an woman or, as the greatest honor a Warrior can give another man, to show his face to an man he concider his most loved leader.
Raht shaiht has only showed his face to one man: the Inquisitor without an name at the moment.

He has served Iquisitor ###### faithfully and now work as advisor for one of the squads.

Week 5: Imperial fanatic

Uri levro is from Cadia, and the reason of his willingness to sacrifice himself is to be found in his past. When he was but 17 he and his regiment was holding the line against the forces of chaos, but the battle was going badly and they were forced to retreat and regroup. during the march his squad came across a ruined community, the populace killed and sacrificed to the dark gods. There Uri found a girl in one of the burnt-out houses, sobbing and clinging on to a doll, she was the only survivor.
He brought her along, disobeying the orders from the commissar who had ordered the execution of all living things to be found I the area. Uri kept her hidden in the supply cart that he had orders to take care of.
The girl didn’t say a thing for the entire march, nether did she stop hugging her doll, as if it was the only thing keeping her alive. But one night Uri saw some blood under her doll when she was asleep. She opened her eyes and said:
-…..help……me……..
In a weak voice. Uri ran to get an med-pack, but as he got 50 meters from the cart the sky turned into a blindingly bright shade of the darkest black, and from behind him came a light as colourless as the rainbow and as weak as the sun on a bright day. As he turned around and faced the camp, he saw the girl, lying facedown to the sky. Her skin turned inside out and turned blue, her eyes grew to power full wings, her arms to eyes, neck to a beak, her head fused with the body, her legs became a torso sporting arms and legs, and for its shoulders the head grew back. And all around it men became spawn, tents burst into colourful flames, men died from flying debris, some died because of sheer terror, but the scene was indescribable for any one not truly touched by chaos.
We know to day that that was a Lord of Change, but all he saw was terror and security, hate an love, abomination and saint.
Why he was spared we will never know, but ha was changed forever, after the happening he started to kill al the little girls he could get his hands on, as his way to prevent it from ever happening again.
But the inquisition caught up with him, and during the interrogations one of inquisitor ######s acolytes came and granted him the chance to die fighting for the emperor and presented him with the eviscerator ”repentus”.

Some Tip,
your greenstuff dosnt look ok, because of these yellow spots in it.

I see here three possibilities:

- It isnt mixed good enough
- you havenc cut away the middle part where both strips met
- your GS is too old

I think the last reason ist correctly. I have seen this problem myself with too old GS. The mis is really hard, not sticky enough and is unable to mix completly.

I think you should buy some new strips, and your sculpturing would be a lot better.

Regards GeOrc

Yup, thats my problem right there:(
But unfurtunetly I wont be able to get my hands on any new any time soon, but I can get it quite smooth as it is anyway.

Week 14: traitor Combat servitor

A simple conversion that I did a while ago, tried to get a "glow" effect from the fire whilst painting it, not that successful but good enough for a first try.

Week 15 special update!

I’ve painted Uri levro (the imperial fanatic) and would like to hear what you think of the finished product, I painted him like a basic Cadian of the 8th and used the guide in the codex with a couple of extra layers for blending, and his weapon I painted like I felt was appropriate.

Ive now painted the Inquisitorial stormtrooper and added him to the ranks of my growing retuine. Quite proud of this one, especially with the face.
But I would love for any one to maybe giving me some advice on what I could do better, particularly when it comes to metals, if you look at the knife you can see what I mean, not that satisfied with that one.

Your imperial gaurd conversions are the most impressive IMO. Tha paint job on that last one (stormtrooper) is really good, especially the face. However, i would suggest taking a bit more time on the aquila bits on the gun and flask. You clearly have the skill to do them better, and they let down what is otherwise a very good looking model.

Week 21: covert ops guy.
Wanted somebody in really tight shirt, so I gave him the bare cathacan torso with and arms. I also wanted to try and make a cap so I made one from green stuff. I made sure that he (theoretically) could hide all of his skin by puling on his gloves an pulling down his cap (with eye holes) and then I painted him in dark colours and called it a day.

On with the halberdier with the knuckles. He has also, for some reason, like the army general and the musician, lost his left eye. Im thinking of making this part of the fluff, any ideas?

Some nice stuff here :)

For the orc fluff, what about something like they believe Gork and Mork look through the tribes eyes- Gork through the left and Mork through the right for instance, but they have done something to antagonize one of the gods and so are trying to hide their location/business from him by blanking out the appropriate eye?

Shadow-Under-Rock
25-03-2008, 20:29
Thanks, I quite like that idea. But I always confuse gork and mork, which one is the cunningly brutal, and which one is the brutally cunning?

Week 29: Orc big boss battle standard bearer (obbbsb?)

Made this one a while ago but couldnt decide on what to put on the banner.
After deciding that my army were gorkers (thanks for the idea Borsil) I could finally finish this model.

And the reason they remove their left eye is because they believe that the left side is the sneaky side and mork can see through your left eye.

A simple one this week, I used the Head with the silly hat form the boyz box becasue it complemented that "duuuuur" look that the hammer gives.

Week 31: Gunsevitor armed with heavybolter

My first use of guitar strings and I must say that they really fits in with the rest of the cables on the servitor. Only problem I have with this one is that the bolter is as long as the servitor is tall, and that should wreak havoc on the balance programming on the servitor, but we could say that the servitor is so full of it (metal) so it not that big of a deal.

You should try building up the colour in layers, so you have darker shades in the recesses, or try using washes. Your conversions are really well thought out, and I think if you put a little more effort into painting it would show off your conversions that much more, even though you seem far more ethusiastic about building them (and we all know painting can be a drag).

The Leather guardsman is cool, but if his Powerfist arm was raised he'd be right at home next to a Sailor, Workman, Indian etc.

I like the idea of a space marine unit inter-mixed in the fighting with a guardsman unit, and then the ***** hits the fan, and they get obliterated... last man standing is a marine, wounded, weaponless. So he grabs the nearest weapon, a lasgun from the dead hands of a guardsman.

All your conversions are great, I just think this marine doesn't look desperate enough to have picked up a lasgun. Wound him... lay him down... have him grasping it with one arm. put a dead guardsman or 3 at his side.

Everything else is great though.

I can't remember ever having commented before... And really, why I haven't, I honestly can't tell you, because your stuff is great. Maybe I have though, but whatever, it deserves another anyhoo. I love the variety, and your conversion work really is excellent, and very inventive.

Your paintwork could do with a bit of improvement, but you gave the log a name for a reason... I would suggest using highlighting your models just a tad bit more. They give your models quite a bit more depth, as I feel they look a little bit flat right now. You have the shading done right, but I think a small highlight would make it even more alive.

My fave model, from going through your log quickly, has to be the boar with the giant's face. Absolutely hillarious!! I am playing the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. right now, and it immediatly felt like it was one of the monsters from that game. Good job!

So keep it up. Try highlighting just a tad more. I think it'll make your models look even better.

Cheers

thanks, when it comes to highlights I'm a bit to carefull, since I don't want to make the models look "unrealistik". But I am trying to muster the curage to sacrifice a bit of realism to make the models look good, since I'll never be able to make them lock life-like.

But the most pressing concern right now is that I'm runing out of convertions, so from now on updates will be more sporadic, if they come at all. But I had a good 79 weeks, will have to drink to that sometime soon...

"Hey There, how, hows it going?
Long time no see.
I know I havent been around much lately
Butit didnt seem like you wanted me to be
The last time I sent down a message you nailed it to the cross
So I figured Id just leave you to it, let you be your own boss

But Ive been keeping an eye on you, I have,
and its amazing how youve grown.
With your technological advances and the problems youve overthrown,
And all the beautiful art youve created with such grace and such finesse,
But I admit there are a few things Im afraid have impressed me less."

Ok enougth Dan le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip.

Oh no, i read the filename and said the word out loud.... "everytime someone says S**** a games developers kitten dies"....
Interesting mini to use as a base though.. Its kinda Prussian Dwarf in space rather then fat-bellied leather jacket greasy biker in space.... what colour schemes you thinking of?

maybe a sort of uniform colour to go with that helmet, uniform as in what you wear not as in the same all over... i think leather will get back to greasy biker look ...
maybe coz his helmet looks so prussian look into their uniform...
