If i were to decide what squads were the toughest over all it would be between: haliquins, wolf gaurd termies with rerollable armor saves and 2 ass. cannons, gene stealers, or grey knight termies.
any other opinoins?

If you want to get technical, Wraithguard are T6.

Lol harliequinns and tough.

Now, are we talking toughest as in reistance to death or are we talking toughest overall?

Former i'd probably save Thousand sons terminators or Necron destroyers.

Latter i'd probably say oh I dunno.....probably death company still.

Im saying Harlequins. They are monsters ( combat wise ect )
But dont forget the legendary solitar.

Seraphim are rock hard and often underestimated in such discussions - assuming they have enough faith points to back them up...

Nightbringer and the Deceiver - stupidly overpowered in my opinion and should never be used cos they walk over anything and everything.

Harlies as tough? T3 5+sv units? Rending attacks at I7 are amazing, but that doesnt mean they are hard to kill, my guard usually kills a couple every round of CC with them.

I'd say the current (3.5ed) Oblits are probably the toughest, although you can make a non-MC Termi lord with the 3.5 ed codex that has the same T but 4 wounds.

After that, Wraithguard.

Plague Marines in a bunker. Cant get much tougher than that really :D

Nobody going for Wyches then?

Personally I like my Cannoness with Celestian bodyguard and attached priest, though I sincerely doubt they're the toughest around :)

Waithgaurd!, i normally field 10 with warlock and conceal, and they soak up all fire power sent their way, and keep it off the rest of the army, so they can do their damage.

warlocks with eldrad being fortuned every turn...

Voting Necron Immortals; they are just absurdly hard to put down with basic and even some special weapons.

ask most Necron players, and they will tell you horror stories of how most of a 10-strong unit was knocked down, then 1 fails its We'll Be Back! roll.

They have really strong stats for their points cost, and even tend to last at least a couple of rounds in combat if a Resurrection Orb is nearby.

7 Wolf Guard terminators 4 with LC's 3 with master crafted assault cannons & thunder hammers

with 2+ re-rollable saves

always hit on 3+ ignore psychic powers on a 6+, they are one of the only units i know that will go through ANYTHING (especially when you throw a Wolf Priest in there, and mount them in a crusader :) but hey that's neigh on 1000pts right there ;)

Ork warboss with bodyguard in Mega Amour and Cybork bodies. 2+ saves, 5+ invunrable and 2 wounds each.

Sorry I just re-read the title of the thread and The Necron Deceiver/Nightbringer count as monstrous creatures so they don't count for this thread.

My vote goes to Wraithguard, or Tyranid warriors, both are equally as hard as nails imo.

Point-for-point, I'd have to say Necron Immortals. Their stats and abilities seem geared towards survivability.

With no regard for points, probably an Ork Warboss with a retinue of Mega-Armoured Nobz w/ Cybork Bodies in some sort of Battlewagon. The old Chaos (Tzeentch) 2-wounded terminators probably would've rated quite high too.

The new Plague Marines. T4(5) with Feel No Pain is very tough.

What about the death company. Feel no pain, rending, fearless, and fearless charge.

My Ravenwing bike squad is rather brutal. T5 3+ save (3++ with turbo), Scouts, Fearless, 2 melta guns, power weapon, and loads of twin-linked bolters that can fire at 24" even while on the move.

They tend to be very bothersome, though I do have to keep them out of hand-to-hand with dedicated assault units or they usually die.

Wraithguard with a Conceal Spiritseer and Fortune.

Not much is taking that out.

100 Bolter shots = 1.83 Wounds. Woo!

Warriors die easily- T4 and 5+ save means they get bolter'd fast, even with two wounds and Carapace upgrade. They're nasty, but too fragile.

I find a tyrant with his guard pretty hopeless to kill.

Torga_DW
19-09-2007, 22:55
I feel obliged to say death company with jump packs. Nasty, fast and hard to kill. Plus theres theoretically no cap on squad size.

I'm sorry, but Abaddon wipes the floor with those two. He has a higher initiative, S8 re-rolls to wound etc. They don't stand a chance against him!

no, 10 char limit if purchased. no limit if just taken from 'freebies'.

@ dcikgyurt (dickyogurt?) does abaddon count here as he's not a squad?

2nd vote: NOise Marine with 8 Sonic blaster and 1 Blastmaster, shoot down everything that come toward them and fight with I5..:D

Wraithguard. You can also make some really brutal Space Wolf squads. The other hardcore squad would be Farsight's command squad (8 crisis suits, anyone?).
