Welcomes to ‘Khrangar’s Warbands Log’, or as I call it ‘Khrangar talks to Himself,’ as I’m sure that is what will end up happening more often than not.

Never the less, I have decided to step away from vast armies of models and focus on just a few at a time. This is because I tend to get really excited about a certain project, and then have that excitement die down once I realize that I’ll have so much to paint once I get everything assembled and whatnot. It’s not that I don’t like painting, I do, it’s that I’d rather do one off models than huge armies most of the time.

This way, I can do various groups of models and still feel inspired to keep painting with no pressure to have to paint so many points of models in order to use them on the battlefield. It also gives me a chance to try out various painting techniques and colour schemes that I couldn’t otherwise try due to the limitations of army painting. I will still update my ‘Summer Project(s) (http://warseer.com/forums/general-project-logs/82507-khrangar-s-summer-project-s.html)’ log, but once those armies are finished, this will be my main log.

Painting various smaller projects should also give me a sense of accomplishment once I’ve finished one of the various mini-logs that will compose this larger thread.

Here is what I have planned so far:

- Mordheim Possessed Warband using 7th Edition Empire Flagellants and Wizards as well as the new Chaos Spawn.
- Necromunda Orlock Gang using Orlock models and various 40k models.
- Necromunda Bounty Hunter Gang using various models and basing them off of the guys from Final Fantasy: Spirits Within… hopefully.
- D&D Adventuring Party using various Rackham models for PCs
- D&D Army of St. Cuthbert using various models from Rackham’s ‘Griffins of Akkylannie’ line.

I’m sure that stuff will be added to and subtracted from this list over time but this what is written, for now, is what I’d like to get started on.

Since my D&D group has started our campaign for this school year, I will start on the D&D models first.

Here is what our adventuring party is comprised of:
-Human Fighter (me)
-Human Rogue/Spymaster
-Human Beguiler
-Human Monk/Barbarian/Drunken Master
-Human Rogue/Ranger/Assassin

The only models of this group that I have finished so far is my own (see below):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Project%20Log%20Pics/soren1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Project%20Log%20Pics/soren2.jpg

All of the characters save the Spymaster will be painted by me as she will be painted by my girlfriend. I hope to get started on this group starting Sunday as that is when I shall purchase the majority of the party models, if not all of them.

Until then, or sooner,

Khrangar

Looks good! Whats that mini from? Looking forward to seeing the rest of the gangs/warbands, I love skirmish games!

I like the scroll name label!

Thanks Red Scorpion. The models will be from the Confrontation range by Rackham: http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/liste_rayons.cfm?code_lg=lg_us&code_lg=lg_us.

On a positive note, I've finished the assembly of the remaining party members save the Spymaster, who isn't with me at the moment.

Here they are:

Painting has begun, and it starts with Zugbert... Yes, the Drunken Master's name is Zugbert. I didn't come up with it, I think it's a stupid name, but it's not my character.

Here he is:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/zug1.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/zug2.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/zug4.jpg

Next up is either the Beguiler or the Assassin, but since the player who was playing the Beguiler quit, it'll probably be the Assassin.

Also, I've edited the list in post 1, no more Space Sharks Kill Team as I can't get FW stuff very easily.

I love your painting style. The only thing I find that is not that great are the bases. A little more rocks or something like that on the bases.

Hum, funny, I like the understated bases, very nice as they let focus stay on the model while adding to the whole.

I didn't want to do too much with the bases but I wanted something other than sand for them. Since we are doing a primarily city campaign, I thought cobblestone would be a good way to do bases, subtle, but different. The name plate makes it so nobody forgets the character's name and, I think, frames the model as an almost display piece, though not of the highest painting quality.

I hope that made sense.

3rd member of the now party of 4, the Rogue/Ranger/Assassin named Caspian.

Neat assassin, though there's sum'in' iffy about the hat/thing behind his head.

Out of curiosity, how do you do your cobblestones?

Khrangar
02-10-2007, 18:58
I think the hat/thing behind his head is supposed to be a high collar that you can attach the front part of a helmet onto.

How do I do my cobblestone as in how is it done or painted? If it's the first one, then I use cobblestone road sheets from a company called Department 56, they do light up Christmas houses and whatnot but their accessories are pretty good for Warhammer, especially the cobblestone roads.

I've done some work on the Spell-Thief, and while she's almost done, I think there's something either missing or not quite right with the model. I've painted the inner clothing on her torso Bestial Brown, but I think it should be a different colour, but I don't know what.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here she is as of so far:

We have a 6th member in our party now who will be playing an Elven Half-Dragon Ranger. This model will probably be painted by the person playing the character.

I dunno, maybe a lighter inner suit would be better? It's not distinct enough from the red, maybe?

And thanks for the base-info, getting that stuff might have been easier than greenstuffing my own Mordheim-bases...

I've started work on the latest addition to our party, a Half-Dragon Elf Ranger.

Not the best pics but I hope they show the start.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/ranger4.jpg

The person wanted it painting with lots of black, so I tried to differentiate between the cloth and the armour by adding gold trim to it. He also wanted the brown bandages or whatever they are to be gold, but I don't know how that'll look so I'm hesitant to do it, maybe just a brighter brown or something instead.

More to come shortly.

Looking nifty so far.

Will he have black hair? I think he could use something contrasty in that area...

And I see you added a Possessed Warband to your list? Or was it there all along? I'm killing the waiting time for my own by painting random minor conversions... Can't wait!

Khrangar

@unwanted: He'll have brown hair or something, but not black.

Not fiery orange to hint at his family origin?

I mangaged to finish the Half Dragon Elf Ranger for D&D which is lucky as we play tomorrow.

Here he is:

There's no name on the base yet as I don't know it. I should be getting more Rackham models shortly so I'll add them to this once they arrive and I figure out what they'll be for D&D.

Turned out nicely, as expected. Good call on the light-brown hair...

Like the shiftyness you managed to get into the eyes.

looking nice, I like the bases' name tags. and the arcaic thief! (I am currently converting her for my asian pirate warband - though I am getting slightly sick of the silk shirt motives I try to paint on her...

as said in my own thread, I would like to battle your band (when fully painted) :P

After a few weeks, I have returned as something new has happened in my D&D group. My girlfriend has decided to no longer play a Spymaster and now wishes to play a Catfolk Swashbuckler. With the plans set, I went off to make her a model.

Here is where I am so far:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/cg1.jpghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/Khrangar/Dungeons%20and%20Dragons/cg2.jpg

She needs some more front armour and I need to fix up the tabard and tail so that they are a bit smoother, but it's a WIP and I'm quite please with the result.

Sorry for threadomancy, but more of the D&D characters have been finished. Here's my Fiancee's D&D character that she painted up.

It's a Catfolk Swashbuckler named N'rauz. I'm quite impressed at how this came out being her 6th model and all. The model still needs 2 sickles.
