I just recently got into Warmachine, and I'm having an awesome time playing it. I figured I'd share some of my work with you guys. I wouldn't win any painting competitions, but I'm really happy with the way they are turning out. Here's what i have. The color code is Done, Primed, Sitting in my Drawer Waiting to be Noticed.

High Exemplar Kreoss
6 Choir
3 Wracks

10 Zealots
Monolith Bearer

High Paladin Vilmon
Avatar of Menoth
Epic Feora
Epic Kreoss
Amon Ad-Raza
8 Temple Flameguard
Temple Flameguard Unit Attachment
6 Flameguard Cleansers
12 Knights Exemplar
6 Exemplar Errant
Exemplar Seneschal
Paladin of the Order of the Wall

I now realize that posting Warmachine figs on a 40K heavy site with no explanation of what they are will not garner much response.

The first one is "High Exemplar Kreoss". He is what is called a Warcaster. Basically he's the army general and a psyker.

The second one is a Repenter light Warjack. Warjacks are big steam powered war-engines that are controlled psychically by the Warcaster. He has a flamethrower and a big flail.

lol, don't worry mate. There's actually quite a few of us here

looking good up to now, i like the orange:)

26-09-2007, 17:49
nice mate.

I'm currently painting up some Menoth too, I have those very 2 minis waiting to be done, might see if I can post a pic of my scheme.

27-09-2007, 11:44
Nice to see some Warmachine on here - esp as am starting on my own menoth stuff soon. Your scheme is different - the orange and white work well together though i'm not as keen on the brass which could use a thin black or dark brown wash and maybe a brass/white mix to highlight edges.

my opinion only, of course - these are nicely done.

27-09-2007, 12:42
Bought my first box of warmachine yesterday, so I just have to comment on any warmachine I see!

It looks very cool, flawless painting really, good highlights too!

The green is a different touch! Normally don't see that outside of Cryx and Hordes, but it fits well as a contrast, especially since you have more of a dark jade tone. Looks like a good start on a force. You just got the Battlebox so far?

28-09-2007, 13:57
Yes, in my posession all I have is the battlebox.

I have mostly finished my Revenger as well at this point. All that I have to do is his left arm and shield. That stuff will get done tonight or tomorrow. I was going to do it this afternoon, but I'm going to play a couple games instead.

My GOAL as of right now is to finish the entire battlebox by monday. I'm not sure if that is going to happen, but its a nice goal. I've found such a great community for this game here that I spend too much time playing to paint it all. That is kind of great.

I've really tried to limit my palette so that everything will feel cohesive and look like it "belongs" together. I'm still not sold on Kreoss as my Warcaster, so you'll probably see some new ones relatively soon.

As to the comments:

Thank you for the comment on my Green, I really like it as an accent because it is such a stark contrast. A lot of people here have been calling my Menoth the "Harbingers of the Holidays" and other such quips, but I don't think it is too Christmasy.

As for the Brass, I am not a big fan of highlighting metallics. For one, I think it only looks good if you do it perfectly. Secondly, I don't know how to do it perfectly. I'm pretty ok with not highlighting it, but I can appreciate where you are coming from.

Last, but not least, here are some WIP pictures of my Revenger.

28-09-2007, 14:58
Yeah good to see more Warmachine on here and you're not the only one doing logs in here so don't worry :)

30-09-2007, 01:46
The Revenger is almost done, and then I get to move on to my Crusader. I got boned on an order from EBAY so I don't have anything past that yet, but I am thinking of picking up a Choir, a Devout and some Knights Exemplar.

You'd be amazed how many people agree with you on that one :D

It doesn't Hell, it looks nothing like Christmas. You'd need far more red and green to pull that look off. It's very suitable imo.

03-10-2007, 14:20
Well, the Revenger is DONE. Pictures up tonight or tomorrow. I'm currently finished with my Crusader's body and the other pieces are outside letting the primer dry on the first side. Hopefully I can finish the model by the time I go to the shop tonight around 6. I have a few errands to run, but we'll see.

I also got a few models in the mail yesterday, and I am doing a big trade tonight.

In my collection of stuff yet to be painted I now also have:

High Paladin Darton Vilmon
3 Wracks

The good times just keep rolling.

As always comments are welcome.

not bad, clean looking, paint is a bit thick though, thinning it more will help

also apply some washes(thin paint) to shade areas(controlled not just slapping it on)

so for the green, mix in some red for the shades(really makes it look nice) you can add in some blue to get extra dark

for the red, mix in purple and brown to shade, add elf flesh and yellow to highlight(flesh makes it brighter, yellow counteracts the pinky)

for the beige mix in grey and brown(grey counteracts the dirty feel of straight brown)

for the metals use thinned chaos black in washes to shade areas(again areas not just crevasses)

for brass you can use brown and black, maybe some green and purple as well

and as for the bases this may help you(i will expand on it more in the future):

hope that helps

Very interesting scheme on the Nomad. Nice posing too.

I'm moving this thread to the Fantasy Project Logs (Warmachine doesn't qualify as Science Fiction, but Fantasy).

The WarSeer Inquisition

07-10-2007, 01:55
My mistake, I see the guns and the "robots" and i thought it was sci-fi.

My mistake, I see the guns and the "robots" and i thought it was sci-fi.

But as the 'robots' are controlled by magic, its fantasy :p

08-10-2007, 14:41
I think a couple of us have logs in the fantasy section too. Personally, I usually don't check the sci-fi section, so it's good to see another WM log.

Looks good. I don't think it looks christamassy at all, since the red is highlighted with a more orangy highlight. I like the colors, and like the Nomad as well.

I agree with the comments above regarding a wash or some sort of shading, at least as far as the white and the metals go. They look a bit too clean and flat.

Quick Update-

Got one Wrack finished and planning on getting the other 2 done today. Then I'll post a list of what is left.

10-10-2007, 03:51

Pictures of the Wracks I finished today. Then i primed my choir and Severius. On vacation until next Monday, but Severius is next I think and then the Choir.

10-10-2007, 14:27
Very nice. I like how your figures have an "earthy" feel to them (colors, tone), which ties them in with the bases and the Menoth geography.

19-10-2007, 23:23
Finished my Choir Acolytes. Will do the priest probably tomorrow or Sunday.

I know the freehand isn't very good, but normally I wouldn't even attempt it, so I'm proud of it.

20-10-2007, 00:28
So, I'm not really into Warmachine as such, but I like nice painting. I would suggest more lines of writing on the parchment, and perhaps also ad some vertical lines or shapes to make the text look more real, and also gaps to create the illusion of multiple words.

And what on earth do the crucified guys do?!?!!?

20-10-2007, 00:51
The crucified guys are basically mana batteries that explode when you shoot them. Very cool.

21-10-2007, 23:27
Quick no picture update. The Choir Priest is FINALLY coming along. I am hating painting this model, as I really am just not a fan of the sculpt at all. Hopefully I will finish it late tonight or tomorrow and have pictures.

26-10-2007, 14:45
Quick Update with Pictures today:

Choir Priest:

Two angles on my Dervish:

26-10-2007, 15:37
Looking good. You should get an army shot up. I'm sure these guys would look great all together.

26-10-2007, 15:40
I finally got a 500 pt. list together that I'm really happy with and as soon as I get all of that painted I'm going to throw up a group picture. Stuff in Green is done. Stuff in Red I still need to finish:

Army: Feora 500
Faction: Protectorate of Menoth
Army Points: 500/500
Victory Points: 20

Feora, Priestess of the Flame
Knight Exemplar Seneschal
Choir of Menoth (6)
Holy Zealots (10)
Monolith Bearer
Temple Flameguard (8)
Temple Flameguard Officer and Standard Bearer
Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios

27-10-2007, 00:14
And now 3 of the Devout:

27-10-2007, 00:32
Good, you have a Devout as well :D every Menoth player needs one of them suckers.

09-11-2007, 15:09
Feora, Priestess of the Flame:

14-11-2007, 13:46
For those few of you following this thread I wanted to give you an update.

I've got the basecoats done on all but 4 of my Zealots now. I should be able to throw them down on the last 4 tomorrow and then from there, they should get done pretty quickly. After that its all about the priest and the Monolith Bearer, which should take 1-2 days apiece.

Then another unit, *sigh*.

21-12-2007, 06:14
All painted up for the painting competition at my LGS. Do I have a chance at winning? Not really. Some of the other figs are really pretty, and I know I'm a bit sloppy and my paint is always too thick. It's more about encouraging people to paint their figs though, and if I can't bone up and enter one each month, why should everyone else?

I'm really happy with her despite it all.

21-12-2007, 17:12
I'm really happy with her despite it all.

And you should be! :D

My only suggestion would be maybe having an intermediate color on the cloth, between the base color and the highlight. This figure seems to have more flat and subtle folds in the cloth (and more of it) than the others.

Any chance you could get a shot of the whole army so far?
