So here I am once more. The usual set-up here: one guy (that would be me), with an addiction to buying models, but never quite getting round to finishing said things.

I've got seemingly more to do every day, but here is the current list:

LOTR Uruk-hai force (around 100 models at the moment)

Vostroyan platoon

Some sort of Cadian army thing

Terminator Librarian

Various other LOTR models

A custom SM chapter

Tau army

Golden Daemon entries for next year.

Next the skills I want to learn/improve/have a bash at:
NMM
Green stuffing
Plasticard.... usage

So, finally for this one, some pictures to fill your appetites.

Gamesday goodness:

I've got tomorrow morning off, and all of Friday, so expect updates then (I'm loving sixth form :-p).

Please do post, even just a good luck, as these messaging are really encouraging!

Looking at the Vostroyan paintjob, I am not the least bit worried about those pretty Death Korps models being painted up the way they deserve to be!

Good luck! Keep up!

Thanks for posting!

Is this like the 'g-fu' family of modeling techniques? A whole other alphapbet to learn! Yay!

@dave is the best: hey! End up buying much more on Sunday?

@spikyjames- I've had some ideas floating around in my head, I'll try to sort them out into some sort of order soon. I'm planning a bits order in the next month, just in case this components removal comes into effect in November.

@Daniel36- only one death korp for me at the moment, but you never know, I might buy some one day....
Thanks for posting as well!

Tomorrow, I think I'll try a method of painting Uruks that I saw in an old WD I got the other day.
The older ones are perfection compared to the tripe we get now.

Damn right the rabbit was hard to assemble- I had to pin every part together, and then green stuff every gap!

Anyway, here is something for you- a little taster of my diorama entry for next year. I've decided that on one side will be the faithful guardsmen, and on the other? Well, you'll have to wait until the drawing is more complete....

Eldar/Dark Eldar
Chaos marines

Any guesses?

A tau battle suit that breaks through a tower so the guardsmen has to dive for safety?
An orc killer can which is onleash.
A krak grenade which fell from the guards hand and ecploded, and the enemy is laughing at him?

Ooo, this guy is pretty close with one of them.
What I will tell you, is that he is running from the enemy (so a typical guardsman), along a dock as it is shot from under his feet back to the rest of his squad.

I tried the Uruk flesh scheme I talked about last night- works a treat, and damn simple (and quick) to do. Pictures tomorrow!

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d17/Jay-90/The%20baking%20project%20log/Golden%20Daemon%2008/P1020110.jpg

So yes, the enemy is a Tau detachment. One of the dock platforms will be exploding, as per the above drawing, with a battlesuit hovering above the murky water; the other having Fire Warriors disembarking from a Devilfish as they try to advance into the city beyond.

I'm getting myself excited over this, but I probably won't start for a good while yet!

Will this not be a big diorama, if you wish to enter it in a Golden Demon? And wath kind of buildings will you use? The gothic ruines? Well good luck anyway.

Ah, I should of been more clear- it will stick into the 30cm by 30cm by 30cm limits for a diorama entry. There won't be buildings as such, just the impression the guardsmen are falling back into the city behind. Actually, I might be able to put in one wall of a factory/warehouse, but it will be custom built.

So today I've been trying to do uruk armour, and I was still unable to get the hang of it, so I started one of my beserkers. In these pictures, he is about half way through the stage of highlights I've just finished. Two more to go, then his flesh is done.

That Uruk skin is looking very nice, it is very smooth. The idea for the diorama is sweet, it should be awesome when it's done.

Damn, that just reminded me, I missed heroes :(

You can watch them on the internet for free, I've watched the whole first series because I am too impatient.

Good luck with all your stuff, I wanna see more work on the diorama and Vostroyans, they are awesome.

I'm really pleased with how its come out, though for some reason I took no pictures of the front....

I think I'll put that order in for the Leman Russ squadron tonight, and I might help myself to a munitorum manual as well. After that, I'm getting a bits order in as according to one of the MO trolls I called the other day, they don't know what is being taken from the shelves for definate in the UK, and the final list may change again.
He said the most commonly bought items will return early next year, probably in blister packs of other similar items, I suspect like a pack full of metal bolters from the SM range.

i like the diorama idea... looks nice! On another note, can you give us the recipe for tht uruk's skin?

Certainly. The orginal is for general Uruks is:

1)Begin with a mix of equal parts Scorched brown, Chaos black, Dark Flesh, and Scab Red.
2)Use Dark Flesh and Scab Red in a 1:1 mix as the first highlight.
3)Add Bleached Bone to the mixture for the final highlight.
4) The WD copy says have a wash of Chestnut Ink and Brown Ink, but I don't see this as being needed.

However, I did this version as the beserkers are mainly flesh:

1)Begin with a mix of equal parts Scorched brown, Chaos black, Dark Flesh, and Scab Red.
2)Use Dark Flesh and Scab Red, and a small amount of Scorched Brown as the first highlight.
3)The same as above, with almost no Scorched Brown.
4)Dark Flesh, Scab Red in a 1:1 mix.
5)Add a little Bleached bone to this as the next stage.
6) Finally, a some more Bleached Bone to this mix to finish it off.

Since then, his thong is now done, just the metals, gloves, and feet left, then his is finished!

Edit: I also placed an order for the Leman Russ Squadron and an old SM techmarine before. One of them should be here soon enough.

Anyway, here is the background for my upcomming space marine chapter, though be warned, its not even half way done, has many irrelavant parts which might need editing, needs A LOT OF WORK and as yet I have no names/ keeping them secret

In the early 35h millennium, an Imperial commission alerted the higher sections of Imperial government of the need for more military forces in several sectors, notably a big one. The four sectors were took for the Imperium during the Great Crusade, and until this point, were largely unheard of by many, not suffering the long, tragic histories of others.
The only notable military incursion was in M.33, when an Ork fleet attacked the planet of. The planetís PDF fought valiantly, but soon were overcome by the masses of infantry. However, aid from the surrounding systems soon arrived, with parts of the Black Templars, Ultramarines, and the Angels Vermillion all lending themselves to the cause. The invading forces were now only to be found in the planetís capital, and soon a vast siege began. Towards the end of the fourth month, the Orks began a huge counter offensive, and pushed all imperial forces right out of the city, right back to their own lines, some miles outside the city boundaries. All seemed to be in vain, the tired and desperate guardsmen in total despair, when the city was vaporized in an explosion that lit up the early morning sky. After the remaining Orks were mopped up, survey teams moved in to investigate the cause of such a momentous blast. Although it was common knowledge that it centred in the city, no absolute reason could be found for the explosion. However, findings heavily suggested that an ancient nuclear weapon, in the depths of the city military bases far below the capital had been set off by an Ork of some kind, most likely a Grot, tampering with a weapon it had no understanding of.

A large survey of many systems was undertaken, including defences, PDFs, military, technological and agricultural tithes reviewed. It was concluded that due to the large distances from other imperial areas, increasing attacks from various factions, and other vulnerabilities, that providing an increase in tithes from several planets, a number of orbital defence platforms, listening outposts, increased naval patrol routes and improved equipment for PDFs would be given. However, most importantly a new Space Marine Chapter would be created, there to defend the Emperorís realms from its many enemies, and to expand this area further still.
Ultramarine gene stock was used to create the chapter, making it one of many successor chapters of this first founding legion. Captain of the Ultramarines third company along with his retinue and two veteran squads of the first company were drafted in to select the applicants for implantation once each set had been grown. All of the recruits were drawn from the worlds and systems surrounding Ultramar, with various weapons, vehicles, and power armour provided by the vast reserves of this ancient chapter. The remaining necessary equipment was created in the forges of Mars. Twenty suits of Tactical Dreadnaught armour were also given, along with a horde of servitors, various parts to be used within a fortress monastery, and finally, the permanent alliance of, a masterful and battle hardened techmarine, the armour of who remains in the Chapterís vaults to this day.

A fleet was also created, with two Battle Barges, six Strike Cruisers, and various escorts and frigates. At the chapterís request, two heavily converted civilian transports were created, to be reserved for missions were stealth was the key.

The Chapter was then released from the guidance of the Ultramarines Chapter, and during the final days before departure, a Chapter Master was selected. The whole fleet then set sail across the stars, taking three years to venture to the system they would call home. Little is detailed in the Chapterís, or indeed any record of what happened in this period, though of what is known, is they used this is a small crusade, seeking out knowledge of the universe, but more importantly to the chapter, technology. The fearsome sight of a whole chapter travelling as one put fear into many of the enemies they faced, and they all stood no chance, as each battle brother fought so hard to prove themselves.

And no, one of the sectors ain't called 'big one'

Some guy (UK)
23-10-2007, 01:10
The next installment, again, sorry for the various parts that make no sense, as I am still comming up with names for people, cultures and places (xxx= no name).

Eventually, it is said, the Chapter reached the xxx sector. The Chapter ventured to the xxx sub sector, and a company was dispatched to all five systems to make contact with what were the most civilised planets in the region. Only two had some sort of recognisable civilisation, one lifeless system, and one system holding a planet of warring tribes. The Chapter settled on the feral planet of xx, which they named xxx, for they saw most potential here for a warrior brood.

The fleet sat in orbit with two companies aboard, with the other eight landing on the surface below. A large area of plains served perfectly as a place to establish themselves. Flyers and tactical squads moved across the continent, scouring the land for a place to build a fortress.

The planet of xxx:

The planet of xxx is one of three in the system to support life, orbiting a star similar to that of which the glorious planet of Terra lies before, sitting fourth out. Itís year cycle is equivalent to 1.5 standard Terra years, due to its relatively further orbit from the star.

Roughly one quarter of the planetís surface is land, with two continents situated together, and several hundred chains of minor islands on the far side of the world. Only around the Equator does the environment become decently temperate, with most of the population settled in such areas.
The continent of xxx sits above, and is notably the least favourable to live in of the two. Features include many mountain ranges and vast hilly areas, especially towards the north, with plains and ancient forests covering most of the remaining areas. Two major rivers also can be found here, each starting far inland, deep within several mountain ranges. The climate is most undesirable- bitterly cold for most of the year, and blizzards are a common occurrence, with winds that scour the landscape. It is nicknamed xxx in the native tongue, meaning dark lands in low gothic, for it is a rare day that the warmth and light of the sun breaks free of the clouds that engulf the sky. In some of the island cultures especially, it is a feared, haunted, and dreaded place, where awful creatures roam the land, and spirits eons old reside (edit- more why later). Very few natives live there, and those that do avoid settling too far in land.

Indeed, the southern continent holds the planetís only major nation, called xxx, with culture and technology similar to that of an early medieval period, having several towns, and a fair sized capital, but with most of its population remaining in many small villages and agricultural communities. They have very little contact with the islanders, due to the huge distances apart, and the vast cultural differences between them.
The nation is often faced with attacks from Uklhads, a race of bulky, ferocious creatures, standing much taller and broader than a warrior of the Astrates, who will often ally with various other species, attacking and burning as they go. These attacks increase during the darker months in the later parts of the year, for they prefer the darkness to attack under, as it provides fear, strength, and stealth to them.
For these reasons, the armies of xxx can be found throughout the realm, though it lacks the ferocity and warrior instinct of the islanders.

Some more background for you, again xxx means I've not got a name for it yet:

The hundreds of islands are grouped together in a series of clusters, which run in a slight diagonal almost from pole to pole. Several stand out due to increased size, and here the xx Chapter hold small outposts, for security and training usage. Most of the southern and many of the equatorial island chains sit upon a tectonic boundary, and are known to suffer from volcanic eruptions and intense earthquakes, both on land and out at sea. The effect of these of course is great tsunamis that not only obliterate this region, but also affect many islands further north.

The islanders however see these events as cleansing of the population, and those who live a righteous and honourable life will survive such atrocities. Despite this belief that such things are life, there are vast areas in the south lands that are totally uninhabited by human life, as they are simply too dangerous to live in. Yet, it is here, in the bitter depths of winter that voyages are made, to hunt and gather food to last until this harsh season ends. The largest sea creatures caught will usually be dragged back by the boats, through the many leagues of open water. Excursions to various islands will often be made, usually for more food and materials, but also for repairs to what can only be described as less than perfect ships, even compared to the vessels of the xxx nation.

The youth of the tribes are also brought here to be tested by the elders of the clan, to show a coming of age. Sometimes, they will be drugged, and wake to find themselves in an Emperor forsaken place, with only a knife about their person, and the task of finding the way back to the ships set before them. Another common task is that of a fast, were the participant must meditate for several days, atop sharp rocks, perilously high above the waves of the sea. Young boys and men will also be willing to prove themselves at sea when hunting, often pushing their bodies to their limits, enduring icy waters, and awful winds, and even taking on great creatures of the depths single handed.

I got a pretty big order for bits in today as well, with things like the White Scars biker bodies for Sgts, another veteran, various iron hand parts, some extra heads, the direct techmarine and grot, and parts for an inquisitorial retinue.

I've still got my Leman russ 3 pack to turn up, and that Gideon Lorr Inquisitor -I hope the former hasn't gone missing in the postal system :(

My direct order arrived today, much to the pleasure of mother and father.

Firstly, the direct techmarine, two missionaries, and the blister of the three witch hunter henchmen that ain't in the inquisitor box. It even came with a cherub, which I wasn't expecting!

Next, a load of henchmen, for some sort of inquisitorial force:

I've got various plans for these, including swapping the hand weapon on the Mordheim butcher for a chainsword. One of my favourite models is in that picture- the henchman with his chainsword at the waist. And the direct grot, because he's cute.

Finally, a small horde of bits for my marine chapter:

Lovely jubbly!

So, radical inquisitor or puritan?
And what sort of colour scheme?
Whatever it is I'm interested to see what you can do with these models :)

At the moment I'm thinking "that there is a motive in his madness". Prehaps some background will be in order once my chapter stuff is complete.
