only if you use 2 detachments: 1 chaos marines, 1 guard. Just like combining any 2 armies. Otherwise the new codex has nothing but chaos marines in it, no alpha legion cultists or anything along those lines.

edit: on a side note, i've created an 'addition' to c:csm in the rules development section, which basically allows daemons to have marks and brings the eot:latd back as part of the rules. Not official of course, but imo not overpowered either.

The LatD list mentions that it works perfectly well as an adjunct to the CSM list, so I see no reason why you couldn't use it as simply a list of extra options.

Closest thing you can have to use guard and chaos marines is imho allied marines.. Personally I prefere deathwatch marines, they simulate chaos marines quite well imho..

Else no, your screwed in using real chaos marines and guard..

Apparently, the LATD list is going to be on the Apoc website.

That's news to me. Can't wait to see it I will certainly be making an army list from it.

although i don't think there is a really feasible way of including units from Codex: IG in a Codex: CSM army, i guess in a friendly game, where i was familiar enough with the opponent, i'd let them use IG units to spice things up a little.

however, the matter would rest on the real question; why are you wanting to include them? is it for background reasons? because i would be hard pressed to think of a scenario where the vain, selfcentred, egotistical CSM would stoop to fighting side by side with pathetic, weakling guardsmen. they may well use them on the battle field, but they certainly don't like fighting with them. on the other hand, if you are using them to include a unit type that you don't already have access to, then again you would have to make your decision wisely. i would not let you take regular guardsmen, the idea of simply including a meat sheild to negate the delicacy of your specialist troops defeats one of the main balancing factors of your force.

In friendly games I dont see why not. The standard allied contingent is usually 0-1 HQ, 0-1 elite, 0-2 troops 0-1 fast attack. That seems to be the standard from the codex's that specificly allow allies.

I think it would be fine to use traitor guard with chaos marines. I dont think LatD did chaos guard justice. There really should be more traitor guard and mutants than chaos marines anyways.

after my word bearers took a huge hit by losing the daemon back bone (a daemon squad for each god in their favored numbers, just for flavor), i decided to make a detachment of renegades using the rules from IA5.
i'm using 2 platoons, hq, a leman russ, prolly a squad of berzerk ogryns, and a hellblade fighter.
i always like the idea of cultist armies with a small marine command.
with only 32 marines in my word bearers army, i think it'll look pretty cool.

I seem to be the new evangelist for kroot in chaos armies.

Download the pdf kroot merc list from GW's website. Pay the points for a kroot squad. Use your traitor guard and just make them have kroot stats.

Unless they put the traitor guard from the lost and the damned in the possibly upcoming daemons codex, that's what you're stuck with unless your opponent allows 2 force org charts in one army.

No, the LatD list will not be on the apocalypse website.

There will be a datafile on the Apocalypse website allowing you to take mutants. Thats all.

As far as fluffs concerned yeh, As far as the codex is concerned, not so much. But hey, Just because you cant use them in tourneys doesnt make any difference at home. Your opponant would be a prick to stop you. Besides the lost and the damned list is now illegal at tourneys thanks to the new Chaos Book.

I can think of a number os situations. The Assault on cadia, an Alpha Legion led rebellion, (see Seige of Vraks) iron warriors (gotta have grunts to dig those seige trenches and gun emplacements. to name but a few. Though I agree if you are doing this to simply to powergame you might want to rethink.
