I am planning a BoC army and I thought about throwing some minotaurs in there over ogres or trolls because I thought they fit better with the beasts but the models leave something to be desired. Any suggetions?

Use different models.
You dont "have" to use the same model as what you take.
So long as its a fairly close representation and you let your opponent know if it isnt obvious what they are.

What models do you like the look of?
Use those as minotaurs(assuming they fit on 40mm bases like minotaurs do).

Im sure people will sugguest gamezone minotaurs and all manner of other companies models that you could use.

Rackham hav some beautiful minotaurs - look for them under the name kelt minotaurs. You couls use those.

yah i agree, rackham's minotaurs are really really really (ok add x 100 reallys) nice.

i myself am thinking of getting some of the rackham's stuff to subsitute things like spellsingers and waywatchers but they are a tad expensive because nobody brings them in over my area.

minotaurs heads on ogres could work, i saw a very nice rackham minotaur that would make a perfect doombull

Those do look mighty fine. They wouldn't do me any good in tournaments though, that sucks.

Which GW Minotaurs were you looking at? I ask because the ones with great weapons are a lot better looking than the ones with additional hand weapons to me.

They are better as I think they have hooves rather than human type feet and are far better models. I certainly can't wait for plastic mino's but I think I'll have to for atleast another year. At the moment I just can't justify spending upwards of 100.00 for the mino's that I need for my planned army.
I've looked at the Rackham ones, but they not exactly cheap either!

The description of the minotaurs in the BoC army book says that "many have the cloven hoof" but not all. While traditionally you may want something with hooves, you're well within the fluff to have the exception to the "many."

Bortus I noticed that after looking through through the bits catalogue, the GW mino's do look better than the others.

Some BoC players were talking about using the new plastic Chaos spawn as minotaurs, at least 1 of them has hooves and there are a few faces that are pretty beast-like.

Reaper's doing a single piece, pre-painted plastic "Minotaur of the Maze" for their Legendary Encounters line. Not exactly a solution, but if he's the right size, you might be able to use him to fill in a couple of units and spare your wallet some torture.

And Crocodile games has the wendigo chieftan that is just right. I'm using their Wendigo models to build a beastman army.

I still think that the GW great weapons Minotaurs aren't bad and your army will be tourney legal which I think it shouldn't matter anyway. Legal shmeagal I say. You know I 've been trying to figure out where I saw this one particular Minotaur but for the life of me I can't seem to remember. It was a pretty impressive, especially tough looking dude; he had no armor but had kinda long fur and nice horns but I also don't recal what kind of weapon he had. If I remember I'll post it.

I do not have too much of a problem with GW minotaurs personally, other than the fact that they are all sculpted in one pose. This means that the minotaurs with two handed weapons do not rank up properly, which can be a real pain.

A great and somewhat inexpensive solutions is:

BfSP-troll + green stuff + boar head.

I made mine out of the plastic Rat Ogres and bitz from the new platic giant sprue. Just stick mino heads on them and adjust the legs a bit and voila, great Minotaurs. But they get more expensive though... They are sold in boxes of 2 and you can't bitz order the Rat Ogre spures...

The old warhammmer quest minotaurs are pretty cool

Why all the hatred of the Mino models? they may not be perfect, but they're hardly doo-doo.

I have a pretty wide assortment of Minos - the Heresy one and the Inch High Games models are very nice (and BIG). Reaper also has a good one called "Cretus". I have a Rackham one and it is ok, but smaller than I thought it would be (bought on-line.)

I also plan on using the new Spawn kit to make a few more.

In a perfect world GW will catch on and make some plastic ones!
