Yep, this is my project log ... the one true land of blurred images, and dodgy pictures ... but it's mine. MINE, I tell you!

*Waits for the echoes to die away*

So, as a taster, some of many ancient models that are the only I've ever photographed. I'm getting a camera soon. ;)

EDIT: THis is what I have now converted Archaon into ...

Well, it wasn't on my table, surrounded by other stuff, and the pictures don't do it justice. It's better in real life. Honest.

I'll try using my mobile camera soon...

Thanks,
MutantMaggot

try using your camera phone thing? What are you using now?

I suspect this could be interesting, if you get your photography skillz in order. :)

MutantMaggot

Still blurry, but at least they're up to date. Anyway, my phone appears to be good for pictures of mountains, just not miniatures ... :(

(BTW, the lump of GS is a WIP chaos spawn)

MutantMaggot
02-10-2007, 14:27
... And there's more ... :D

(NB: The first photo is my Chaos Dwarf conversions.)

In the first picture, you might see that the camera focus on the word "Rugby" on that paper. This tells you two things:
You're too close!
Don't put stuff behind your miniatures!
Put the mini on a white paper, and let that paper rest up on something, rising ut up at the back. If the camera only has a mini it may focus on, the chance is bigger that it will actually do that. Hope this helps, I'm a bit tired at the moment.

Thanks. The only problem is that the brightness of the paper may slightly dogy-fy the mini, but I'll try it ... ;)

Thanks,
MM

Hey mate, what is this picture of? I think I like it alot, but I would love to see a better pic.

MutantMaggot

Thanks. It's my converted Nurgle Daemon prince, appallingly painted, but at least it looks good, considering it was converted from a bloodthirster ... (It looked much better recently, but I changed the circular base piled with corpses and guns to a square base for fantasy, though I will add some more to the base soon.) In a moment I'll try to get a better picture of it ... ;)

Thanks,
MM

Well, I've tried to use my omputre's camera, and here are the results ... :(

(Please be aware I've never actually painted this model properly, only done various inkwashes and drybrushes to make it acceptable for game purposes.)

Gah! Blurry pictures! Love the Daemon (Prince?)... looks cool...

Edit: Bit of advice though... Post the pictures in full rather then thumbnails... people are too lazy around here to actually click anything they dont technically need to...

MutantMaggot
06-10-2007, 17:50
Err ... how do you post 'em in full ...?

Merceus

then remove the space and put the link to the pic inbetween them...

Edit: You'll need to upload the pics to Imageshack or Photobuckt first...

The edit was the only useful part of that ... :D

Joking.

Turn your camera to 'macro' for a non-blurry, close up photo

mrtn

Photos number 24 and 25 of those seem the best, continue to do what you did with those. :) The model looks cool, I wouldn't guess it started as khornate. I see he's ambidextrous too, his weapon change from the left to the right hand. :p

Another tip would be to crop your photos, some of those show a lot of white cloth, and then a tiny mini in the middle.

MutantMaggot
07-10-2007, 08:28
:D No, one of my cameras takes a mirror image of te model, one o many reason why I'm now using my mobile phone camera (which, icidentally, has no macro switch :( ) Anyway, I used that for 24 + 25, so ... yep, I'm nearly getting good photos.

Yes, the model did start off as Khornate.

Thanks for the advice, and generally thanks,
MM

PS> I've now begun to use photobucket, and am editing some of my posts to show BIG images

Merceus

thats better... now start using Imageshack, they have a setting to reduce the size of images... side-scroll is annoying, not cos of the pics, but cos of the text...

MutantMaggot
07-10-2007, 10:01
Imageshack?

Merceus
07-10-2007, 10:03
yes... imageshack... tis what I use... and much better...

MutantMaggot
07-10-2007, 10:13

i thought the camera got better...

Merceus

lol to ro9an's comment... Please zoom in a bit, we cant see much detail otherwise :p

As to the imageshack vs Photobucket issue, I firmly stand on the side of Photobucket. Both have resize capability, but Imageshack has a whole lot of nasty poker pop ups, and is generally more annoying. Stay with Photobucket. ;)

And crop your images, you can even use Paint for that.

I think that those knights look good, they're a bit too blurry and small to be sure, though. :)

MutantMaggot
09-10-2007, 21:21
Aaargh! There's a thread invader! Wait ... it's Merceus's new Avatar ... :D

That zooming, Merceus (yes, you), is what causes it to blur. The second-last photo is good, except for the light, and you lot moan ... :p I mean, on the last one (I tried to zoom a bit), you can only see the tentackle and mark of Nurgle! Honestly, try using my camera, see what it's like ... :D

Actually, I'm trying another method of photography. It should work. Honest ...

Soon to be pictures, Merceus, never fear ... (Well, actually, always fear when I'm around ... )

EDIT: Thanks, and I'll try cropping my images on the next few. It's your fault if it goes wrong. ;)
