View Full Version : Inquisitorial Census!

I've been roving the net trying to find a good central website for all things Inquisitiony. So far my search has been moot. :( (Then again, it's known that some 40K faction specific websites have short lifespans. There are exceptions but I've found few of them still functional).

Yet, I see tons of inquisition fans posting here and the inquisition thread in the tactics section is thicker than Roseanne Barr with bad gas.

SO. The challenge: Sound off if you're an inquisitor, or you use inquisitorial forces! This isn't to poll what your tactics are or whether you think inquisition suxxorz or not. This is to see how many of us are out there as of this date and time.

Well, obviously, I'm one. Anyone else? :)

I have a moderate sized Grey Knights force for Daemonhunters.

The handful of Sisters I ever owned were given to my buddies quite impressive Witchhunters army.

I really like the idea of the inquisition, and by the inquisition I mean an inquisitor, his/her followers and any forces that they happen to press-gang to join them :D Don;t have an army though (see below)
Although actually I don;t support them as a means of stopping heresy. I currently have plans and fluff going round for a small, but highly influential radical conclave, which is controlled by an insane (not visibly however) inquisitor who believes the entire Imperium to be corrupt and heretical. This conclave then starts trying to detroy the Imperium from the inside in the name of the Inquisition, by commandeering large and varied forces and attacking other parts of the Imperium after declaring them heretics. In order to keep with this idea I'm thinking that any Imperial armies I do in the future (Guard for example) will have an inquisitorial contingent, consisting of a different member of the conclave and their followers.
This is likely never to happen but it's nice to dream ;)

I have a 7,000 point Adepta Sororitas army, and a fledgling Ordo Malleus strike force (60 Krieg Grenadiers pressganged into Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, an Inquisitor and a Grey Knight Teleport Attack Squad).

I voted Witch Hunter though, since I have never played with my Ordo Malleus force, and out of all my wargaming armies, I consider myself a Witch Hunters player.

Enough to get the job done. They're a more powerful army than a lot of people give them credit for, notice that?

Yikes. Well, put them to use in the next world wide campaign. we need dedicated Inquisitors with vast forces there. ;P

i've been slowly building my Grand Army of the Inquisition for about 4 years now. it all started with one inquisitor i bought for my old (and now sold) IG army.

i'm over 4000 points now. some sisters, some IG, a few space marines, plenty of GKs and stormtroopers. i just bought my second valkyrie about 2 months ago in fact.

My Inquisitor character for the INQ game is a Istvaanian member of the Ordo Xeno. In 40k he leads a small IG army or joins/inducts one of my other Imperial armies (I use DH or WH for his rules depending on how big a game it is and what gear I feel like giving him that day). I have an 8 man Deathwatch Kill Team as well as several IST squads. For fun I've also got a few Grey Knights for when I feel like purging something else for a change.

I have around I guess 2500 to 3000 points of Sisters of Battle. I think there are at least more than I can count models for the sisters, more on the way from bits orders including a Exorcist, and at least 2 Immolaters (more on the way) and an converted Exorcist (from a whirlwind) with another converted Exorcist comiing.

You, sir, are a serious Inquisitor. Speaking of, have you seen the new book just released, "The Inquisition?" Encyclopedia style study of all things Inquisitional in 40K? Great buy for the die hard Inq fan.

I've debated using IGs with my sisters. I'm still on the fence about it. After all I could just throw my Dark Angels out to ally but IG may have their advantages.

I too am building a Rogue Trader's army but mine is Apoc sized and uses multiple codex books to cover the different elements that make it up. Most of the force is Inquisitorial or AdMech/Techmarine in theme as the RT's personal quest is to discover/rediscover technology and kill off err subjugate the alien/chaotic/etc hordes that are err, hoarding it.

I have not yet totaled the pt value of the mostly unassembled mass but I know it is in the ballpark of 6000+, made up mostly of marines, variants on marines (squads of Deathwatch, a few GKs and some plastic RT era marines used as a Sensei's followers using the SoB rules), and inducted IG/storm troopers. Oh and quite a few inquisitors of the big three and a few minor Ordos. Also have a few inquisitors being used as "count as" for figures without current rules such as the RT himself.

Hopefully I will finally get my hobby space up and running so I can get to finally start on assembling and painting my monstrosity of an army. :D

None... *yet*

I have every intention however of getting into the Inquisition eventually. Their background fascinates me, and I also love both the Sisters and Grey Knights. (I also like the Death Watch, but there's relatively little info about them comparatively!)

Honestly, if I could make my "Dream" Inquisition army, it'd be a 3000pt Apocalypse force with representatives from every branch. Adepta Sororitas, Grey Knights, Death Watch, 3 Inquisitors (one for each ordo of course), and a whole mess of IG to back them all up as well.

Perhaps even an Inquisitorial Baneblade <,<

You, sir, are a serious Inquisitor. Speaking of, have you seen the new book just released, "The Inquisition?" Encyclopedia style study of all things Inquisitional in 40K? Great buy for the die hard Inq fan.

Well I've had the 54mm models for awhile now but have only started playing the INQ game. I can't wait for that book, although I'm on a contract in the arctic right now and won't be able to place my order till I get home...hoping they don't sell out fast...

I've got about 5 different Inquisitors in 40k scale my favourite being the conversion for my primary Inquisitor, Aidan Vernius (based off an Arbite champion with Inq symbols instead of Arbite ones and a bolt pistol and chainsword). If your interested you could read about him here: http://www.specialist-games.com/inquisitor/forum_b/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10336 . Other people have posted a lot of interesting characters there on The Conclave too, they are worth checking out too if you want some inspiration.

I'd recommend anyone interested in the Inquisition check out the Inquisitor rulebooks (available free here: http://www.specialist-games.com/inquisitor/rulebook.asp), especially the Thorian source book, as they have tons of background information about Inquisitors and the way the Inquisition works. You don't need to play Inquisitor to get a lot out of those books, plus they’re free!

Just ordered the start of my inquisition force ... I have an inquisitor with half his retinue waiting at home to be painted, and a box of grey knights and a grey knight dreadie coming on Sunday :P At the moment though, my Malleus force numbers at 80 points (go go melta torpedo).

03-10-2007, 01:58
4000 points of Witch Hunters, including the Order fo the Bloody Rose. If I use Guard as full allies rather than a single inducted platoon the Mordian 31st Redshirts may well bring it up to 5000 points.

This may sound odd, but all and none. I don't use Inquisitors per se, but I run all of the Chapters Militiant.

Primary - Hereticus (actually pure SoB/Arbites, but :p)
Secondary - Malleus (half still in the post)
Whenever they get around to it....:( - Xenos (Deathwatch until then:p)

Lord_Magellan
03-10-2007, 04:35
For the record, I have 2000+ points of Adepta Sororitas forces alone, plus an Inquisitor/retinue centering on the infamous Inquisitor Kurlin. I just added a witch hunter inquisitor model to represent his daughter, Anathema. :)

that said, I do like the look and fluff of the inquisitorial armies, but not so much their playstyle. I've got a mechanized Guard army, so I guess that counts for something, but I couldnt see myself playing an INQ army unless/until they are redone.

Korvos
03-10-2007, 05:32
My biggest army is my Daemonhunters army (of which I can swing Inq w/allies, radical, pure grey knight, anything else).

My space marines I like to think of as Deathwatch just waiting for the Ordo Xenos book.

The only Sororitas unit I have are some seraphim that are barely assembled. I do like Hereticus Inquisitors a lot though. Crusaders ftw.

But I don't plan to add much to them for Apocalypse. After I'm done with my current plans I'd rather expand my Imperial Guard allys into an Inquisition themed IG army. However, that won't happen till I finish my Tau (led by a radical Xenos Inquisitor?) and do this massive Tyranid Swarm with Trygons and multiple unending hormogaunt/gaunt swarms for Apocalypse (um... mind control?... ok, I guess this would be blasp- *BANG*)

Ordo Malleus - 3637 pts.
Ordo Hereticus - 1870 pts.
I am joining these to my 1500 pts of mercenary Squads, and 1000 pts of IG for Apocalypse, so 8k all up and the upcoming battle with my Son's Chaos Army is building in tension as we speak.

Definitely sounds like Paranoia.

Would have been nice if there was an Ordo Xeno book, officially. As it is I'd have to make Deathwatch using those nifty online rules for the HQs and trait marines to fill in the rest of the blanks. Not a bad plan I think, but I'd love to see some more backstory to them in print.

The inquisition only thinks they are serving the emperor. In Xenology there's a 'cron who explains that the Deceiver is actualy quite influential there. Voted Ordo Xenos because they have the potential to feed most souls to their real masters.

Not really sure what that has to do with you owning any Inquisitorial forces... Do you have an Ordo Xeno Inquisitor for 40k? If not then why would you put yourself down as having one on a census?

I must admit that despite being of the Ordo Xenos I was unable to acquire a copy of Xenology before it went out of print. I find it hard to believe that there is a Necron talking in it though...can someone shed some light on this (as I've never heard of a Necron talking before...).

HERESY! Dh and WH are great armies. They are certainly not competative but look great and play differently. They are also rare and so it is easy to get a game as people want to play something different.

I do play Orks (4K+, half painted), Eldar (~2K, mostly unpainted), Nids (~3K, partly painted, most of it still in sprues) and Chaos (~2K, in different states). So I'm with Team Evil I think. But I always had a soft spot for the Alien Hunters, especially the Deathwatch, and have the parts for about two full Kill Teams floating around... somewhere. If you think I am a radical, then you are petty and small minded, for I serve the Emperor with greater strength than you can ever hope to muster, foolish deluded simpleton.

The sororitas who accompany me and my charges have been converted to my cause. Their faith is strong, and the forces of light have tamed the darkness in the emperor's name.

That makes 1500 or so of Sisters with Radical DH allies.
