How do these guys keep up the fighting? I mean don't there nubers never replenish other then new traitor chapters or do they get recycled through the warp?

Aslo in the 40k Novels I have YET to see a battle that has had more then 20 chaos mariens except for the Horus rising books... So why don't they have cultist in the army book?

Thanks for the help guys...

Chaos marines have just as many ways to get extra marines just like the loyalist if not even more ways.

pick up a copy of "storm of iron" (bl novel about the iron warriors)-lots of chaos marines in a battle & explains a little about possible methods for replenishing numbers.

I'd like to know why people think Chaos doesn't work logistics. Chaos doesn't have all those stupid religions boundaries that limit the Imperium. They have their Techpriests and all. Why else would have they been able to make things like Defilers, Kai Guns and the planet killer, among many other things.

And then there are people like Bile who find ways to improve the biological stuff. You don't always need geneseeds for Chaos marines (even though Chaos does steal them from loyalists) as there are other ways to get big tough troops, like genetic manipulation and pure Chaos corruption.

I also remember reading that not every Chaos Marine is made into an Astartes of their own volition. Some of them are just slaves that get the geneseed stuck in them and then are pumped full of crazy juice.

There was a short story about a company of marines that was ambushed by Chaos forces. They realized they were to be abducted for their geneseed and the loyalists killed themselves. Only the apothecary survived, after saving his collected geneseed, and was captured. Then he was tortured by the lgendary Worldeater apothecary who stole his geneseed.
As a number of the Chaos legions' seed has become corrupt, stealing it is probably the best way to go about getting it.

Chaos Marines recruit just like the loyal ones, they just don't advertise it (technically the general Imperium doesn't even know about chaos, they rarely see loyal marines in action and the idea of "evil" marines doesn't exist except in rumors). They may not even know they are going to be recruited for chaos until they've been training for a long time, all they know is that some big marines think they are great fighters and want to join them...

Chaos Marines are also renegade Loyalists. Entire Chapters or individual squads going renegade for one reason or another.

Remember in 40K fluff individual marines are killing machines way beyond normal human standards, 20 marines can apparently easily take over a planet. White Dwarf had an article that had a squad of space marines with stats that reflect what the novels make out them to be (WS9, S6, T6, rerollable 3+ save and rerollable 3+ invulnerable, fleet, infiltrate, move thru cover, each model it's own unit...). Basically a single squad of these "fluff" marines could take on a 1500-200 point "normal" army without breaking a sweat.
