So out of 29 people no one has an idea on the size or shape of the Gyrocopter base. I have looked online but every picture cuts out the base. Even the one pictured on these forums hasn't used the standard base that comes with it.

Is asking this breaking some rule. As I can't see how it can be compared to asking for stats or unit infomation.

Well, I sold my Gyrocopter a few years ago, but if I remember correctly, it came with a "flying stand", but without a square base ... I had mounted the flying stand on a 40mm base, for game purposes and because the round plastic thingy fitted snugly on a 40mm square ...

The correct base size is 40 mm square.

Peace!

After the mocking you gave my fanatics about being on round bases Dayhan, surely you know by now that all Warhammer models have a square base :)

Fanatics should be on round bases, 25 mm I think and is iirc the only fantasy model on round base nowadays.

Up too 6th edition most flyers were mounted on round bases, I guess there still are a few strugglers out there which hasn't been re-based. I think the clear round fly base is still included with some models together with the correct square one.

As a "flying monster" (Dwarf army book p. 42), the Gyrocopter uses a "40mm or larger base" (Rule book p. 7).

Alas, not much in this particular case.

The only help I can find is a card "Base Size & Unit Strength" reference sheet that came with an issue of White Dwarf (somewhere mid 6th Edition I think).

According to it, the correct Base size for the Gyrocopter is 40x40mm - although it should be noted that the reference sheet was pre current Dwarf Armybook and 7th Edition, so there's the slight possibility that it's information could be out of date.

Hope this helps...

Actually, ABIYF/CIYF always helps - look at the picture pages :p (LatPP ;))

Actually, ABIYF/CIYF always helps - look at the picture pages :p (LatPP ;))Good point, I simply took for granted that Dayhan was referring to the pictures in the Dwarf Armybook when he said the base wasn't visible in the images.

A quick skim of the Dwarf Armybook however does indeed reveal a couple of pictures that include the Gyrocopter base, and the pictures even have other models in close proximity to judge the base size against. Clearly 40x40mm.

Just a thought...
