This is my first thread so please be gentle:cries: Those of you in the U.S. may recall the "Great Mail Order Stock Room Disaster of Whenever the Hell That Was..."

Basically, five-ish years ago someone managed to knock over the shelves in the GW U.S. Mail Order HQ. The bitz were so thoroughly mixed up that Mail Order started selling bags of random metal bitz at $10 per pound. I was intrigued by the idea of buying a cheap uber-bitzbox ( converting is one of my favorite aspects of the hobby) so I bought 10 lbs of pewter. Much to my annoyance, (I play 40k mostly) I received 10 bags of Warmaster figs (empire).

I've just had them sitting around since then, but I'm wondering if there is any demand at all for Warmaster figs. I have over 700 bases in total just sitting around in a shoebox (inc. 200 of knights).

How much are the figs worth? Would trying to sell them all be easy, or more trouble than its worth?

comments/suggestions would be much appreciated:)

There seems to be a decent market for them on ebay in the UK at least. I was looking at getting some a little while back and was surprised how good (for the seller) the market prices were. Of course, with 700 bases you'd be wanting to trickle them out or you'd flood the market and depress the price. Or, you could send to me in Australia!

Thanks for the response!
mmmmm...sellers market...aaarghlll... (implied drooling)
I think you have a good point about selling it off in small lots- particularly as shipping it in one block would cost a kidney.

Yeah, but it may take you the rest of your life to get rid of them. Maybe you should hand out some free samples to people to get them hooked and then exploit them mercilessly.

hmmm... exploitation is fun... but I'm not sure who is being exploited in that scenario...

do you have an inventory of items?
I play against a couple of lads who are looking for an empire force

BY 700 I presume you mean lose strips of minis. I'm always interested in some more Empire figures for my Dogs of War army - primarily Crossbowmen, handgunners and Skirmishers. Post up a brief inventory of what you have to see if anyones interested you might be able to sell some stuff here.

Remember 6 strips = 1 unit in warmaster most units include a command strip the 3 units I listed above don't.

if only someone would make such a blunder in the uk...*drifts into dream world*
yes there definately is a market for the minis, well over here there is anyway, as models go for insane prices on ebay.
maharajah is right, do it in quite small amounts to keep the current mrket on them steady, plus there is also the fact tha a mass bulk of it all in one go looks a tad suspicious which may cause GW to question the amount.

ONly out of production miniatures go for an insane price. Miniatures still in production go for about 60% of retail.

Okay... here's the inventory. I was way off on the number of knights. I didn't think to count the command strips, but there seem to be plenty.

Knights- 87 strips = 14.5 units (plenty of command strips)

Handgunners- 335 strips = 55.8 units (plenty of command. these are the ones with the Hochland long rifles, right?)

Flagellants- 140 strips = 23.3 units

Crossbowmen- 119 strips = 19.8 units ( plenty of command strips)

2 Great Cannons (only 1 crew strip)

1 Helblaster (no crew)

8 dwarf cannons (no wheels and only 1 crew)

Edit: there are 4 other strips i can't really identify. they might be skirmishers, althought they look a bit too heavily armed for that (pistols, swords, breastplates).

Are you planning on doing the birdmen?
I would be interested to see your ideas for those.

Ironsides - PM sent.

Azrael I'm just going to use crossbowmen with glider wings made from plasticard like the ones in the warmaster annual 2003.

The Dogs of War army is just a side project just collecting bits at the moment. The pike men are done 6 units but I have 72 little hands to sculpt. Your familiar with the elite halberdier conversion - I think I may have shown you that one.

I'm actively working on my Daemons as you know, also a Kislev army mde from almost entirely non GW figures - I'm working on 4 units of bear riding winged lancers at the momnet. I'm using copplestone horse tribes as the base for alot of the minis. My Wood Elves are progressing slowly and I've just started another new army that I'm entirely sculpting from scratch I hope to show pictures after christmas.

I have been stock piling stuff as there's a part of me that thinks GW might pull the entire specialist games range or severely curtail it but I hope not but then they have gone against everything they have said in the past.

I ended up using epoxy resin for the hands. 4 units of pike were enough for me.
I was hoping to get some samples of the birdmen models from Garth, but I fear they got lost in the post, I struggled coming up with a wing shape I was happy with :( so they are all that waits to be done to complete my DOW force, even did the halfling cooking pot catapult.

As for the models you have Ironside, you may be as well shoving some on bartertown as that amount WILL kill the price of empire troops if the go on eBay thereby doing you out of a few quid. A slow release would take years to get shut of them.
I tried the same with some chaos hounds I bought off of bartertown and in the end I had to all but give them away.
