So folks who among you will be fielding a mass of meat heads for apocalypse? Personally I might pick one up but possibly not. They'd fit great into the fluff for my apoc army. Do you see any downside to fielding a mass of 3 wound muscle heads that are charging the enemy? Plus a new commissar.

Downside? None.. it's apocalypse, ******* field what you got, brother, and bash some heads.

Ogryns are one of those Guard units that just makes me squee. I love the big dumb guys <,< Especially in Dawn of War.

"Ooz dum plan iz diz?!"

Yeah man I like them because I'm incredibly big myself and also I can just see a mass of ogryns eating a bunch of guardians in combat.

Blooming pricy though, 10 a piece makes that 100 for ten.

It's unfortunate that a mass charge of Ogryns is roughly as terrifying as being bull-rushed by Barney the Dinosaur.

How so? Ten big guys charging you with 3 wounds each is pretty scary.

I once had the idea of using WHFB Beastman models with some 40K bits and Ork Shootas as ripper guns as Ogryns in a Deathworld army.

If you either:
1) already have enough Ogryn, or
2) have such a love for Ogryn that you probably need help,

then yeah, the Ogryn Auxilia is neat. I was pretty disappointed that the formation doesn't do anything to shore up the weaknesses of Ogryn. There are some pretty rabid Ogryn fans on Warseer, so I won't say much, but as a formation that's entirely bad units, the formation itself is pretty bad.

Dark Eldar Warriors, on average, beat Ogryns in melee in an equal points fight. They're rather pathetic as far as infantry go, let alone shock troops.

they are also far to easy to shoot to death

stupid waste of points imho

I myself have been pondering this one for a while now. I use the Berzerker Ogryn for chaos and was pondering if I should buy another 5 just for this.

I have not seen the datasheet so can't comment on it.

The Auxilia box is too expensive. I can get the same contents as this special set from GW Direct cheaper through anyone on the internet. They screwed up on the set discount with the Ogryn. And I was eager to buy one too :cries:

personally i think ogryns rock, i play alot of cities of death and let me tell you , when it comes to the mean streets of 40k few things are better for the points than those big mean knucklheads.

I agree with Lord Merlin. Being 6'11" myself, I like to associate with thier size (although I have nowhere near thier mass being a mere 250 pounds).
Since first reading Piers Anthony's book "Ogre Ogre" when it came out years ago, I have been an ogre fan.
Although, I admit they are not always worth thier points in-game and are expensive cash-wise, I would use them if I could for general purposes and fun value.
I think it would be much cheaper to just use the plastic ones from fantasy and convert them though (not that that would be "cheap" either by any means lol).

15 for 4 plastics I think it was so thats a very good deal in comparison.
