Interesting site if anything. Has a couple of BFG ships in there.

Im not saying they are accurate... hell I cant say Ive ever watched an episode of Star Trek, Babylon 5 or any of the Starwars films all the way through but it might just help people if they are thinking of building anything big?

I've been a huge fan of that site for about 4 years now - it's great stuff and well-researched. :) I agree... it's an excellent resource for folks building "big".

What? A Cobra is the same size as a D'deridex or a Star Destroyer? I have a hard time seeing that.

I don't.

I've always been amazed at the massive size of Imperial cruisers, when you realize that each of the dozens and dozens of guns is about 2-3 stories tall and manned by about 10 men.

I can see the cruisers and battleships being as large as they're said to be. I'd guess those guns are manned by a hundred men each, and lances by a thousand or more.

It's really just the escorts I have a hard time accepting. But no, wait, I just had a thought that changed my mind. If a Cobra is about 1km that's 3 current large aircraft carriers in length, and that makes sense for a spaceship. Makes me want to give each one a name, not just squadrons.

When considering the logistics and numbers involved planeary invasions, you realize that you'd need what would be cities in space. So ships of that size aren't that strange or unrealistic.
