late last year i witnessed a match between ogres and chaos (ogres won)

in the ogre army i saw some remarkable conversions of a tyrant with the tenderiser ontop of a rhynox in a unit of 3 other mounted ogre bulls....... and it has just re-apeared into my mind.

now my question is.
is it legal to mount ogres and a tyrant on a rhynox?
are there any downloadable rules for them?

thanks in advance

There are rules for Rhinox riders, but none for mounting characters AFAIK.

I'm not sure if the rules are downloadable, but they were published in WD.

That was the biggest thing I disliked about the OK army book. There's a picture in the bloody thing of an Ogre riding a Rhinox and they didn't even cover the rules for it. I'm finding they're just isn't enough choices when building an OK army (I've just started collecting and I hate those gnoblars).

I can't seem to find the rules on the website anymore, but I do have a copy I printed off a while back. Try the Forgeworld website, they also had experimental rules for their own models of Rhinox riders (though nothing for characters riding them).

Yeah, here they are (though they are not the same as was published by GW).

My gaming group have no problems with my friend mounting his tyrant on a rhinox, we just worked out how much a rhinox would cost from the points cost of the forgeworld models and add that onto the tyrant's cost with a few limitations, e.g cannot take the "Longstrider" big name.

It's all about the fun factor - yeah the Tyrant may be really scary but that just makes it all the more of a victory when you kill him.

My group do things like this fairly often, so long as it doesn't unfairly unbalance the game.
This is one example, another is allowing me to field a Beastlord with the Mark of Slaanesh on a Tuskgor Chariot. Fun times. :D

In fact, it's same rules as in WD (can be downloaded from here (http://ca.games-workshop.com/CommunityNew/HOH/Army%20Downloads/RhinoxCavalry.pdf)), only in WD you could field simple Ogre rhinox riders or upgrade them to bull rhinox riders, whereas in FW rules you can field only bull rhinox riders (because FW models are for bull rhinox riders).

Huh? You want *more* Ogres? There's like, a million different Ogre sub-types!

The Forgeworld rules are far more powerful though I think.

Bulls, Ironguts, leadbelchers, maneaters, and rhinox riders. Only 4 of which come in the actual Armybook. The tide of ogre sub-types is simply overwhelming, you're right. :P

I found that the Forgeworld rules are generally not excepted at games and the White Dwarf - GW Rules are what people play by. This may be only in my area but it's the concensus here anyway. I have to agree that if GW put out rules then they should be used above and before any Forgeworld ones are implimented. Just my 2 cents.

Actually they are not the same rules. Without actually reading the two links referrenced here...I'd add that the Forgeworld rules count the Bull Rhinox as a large monster with independent wounds and targeting rules. The GW / WD rules state that it's a single model like a chariot with a total of 5 wounds. That's a big difference in my opinion.

Yeah, the rules GW put out and the Rules Forgeworld put out are not the same at all and from what I've seen, only the GW rules are used. The Forgeworld rules were, as I remember them, shall we say unbalanced. The GW rules are still good, but they are not as harsh as the FW ones.

If you can't read PDFs then you really have a problem.

Try right-click-save-as instead of opening it in your browser.

I must say I do enjoy these group hallucination threads. There is in fact no difference whatsoever between a Bull Rhinox Rider as presented by Forgeworld and a Bull Rhinox Rider as presented by the other web article... except that the Forgeworld rules allow the Rhinox riders to buy additional hand weapons, which is of course uselss :D

i think i have exceded my downloads and vista kinda restricts you from doing ANYTHING without approval 50 times. but the right click and save thing seems to be working thanks for the tip:D

is there any way i can put a tyrant on a rhinox??? because it would be more fun to torment little kids with when a tyrant running around on a rhynox eats their unit of elves :D

No regular lords or heroes have rules supporting their being mounted on rhinox. Ghark Ironskin, the special character from the ruleset I linked is the only character of any sort that has supporting rules for a rhinox mount.
