What does the average chapter fleet consist of?
Obviously crusading chapters would require larger fleets but what makes them up?
How many Battle Barges,Forgeships etc.

Average Chapter fleet I think is 1 Battle Barge, and a couple (meaning I dont know) of strike cruisers. Also I think as a Chapter fights more and more battles they'll probably be rewarded with more craft. A distinction to this I believe is the First Founding Chapters who have more. The Ultramarines, in one ofthe WD articles, were said to have 3-4 battle barges (one of them being a gunship).

According to Battlefleet Gothic article the Space Marine Chapter ususaly has a fleet consisting of between 1-3 Battle Barges and up to max 10 Strike Cruisers(usualy one per company),plus a number of various escort type ships.Because of their traditions or role some of the chapters maintain even a larger fleet. For example the Ultramarines have in their possesion a total of about 5 Battle Barges.IIRC the Battle Barges of the Black Templars can carry 50% more ground troops than a standard one. Also the Whire Dwarf article about the Predator tank metions that a Chapter can
on its own conquer a sigle world, while the legion was capable to invade an entire subsector.Of course the specialistic space craft currently employed was desinged after the Horus Heresy, and to the Space Marines of that time any ship capable of launching drop pods and Thunderhawk gunship was a potential Battle Barge.

Also when conquering a world, rapid strike vessels and strike vessels are the first t o be deployed by a chapter. The battle barges are only usually deployed when more force is necessary, i.e. when there are powerful orbital defenses

That's more of a one-off device, like the Imperial Fists' Death Sta... erm... Phalanx. Come to think of it, I think the Dark Angels and the Imperial Fists are the only Chapters officially noted to have some sort of absurdly huge space fortress that they tow about with them.

Chapters can also take ships that they defeat in battle as rights of conquest, as happened in the Badab war.

Many chapters posess a Fortress Monastary in the manner of the Dark Angels. In all cases these are overly large warp-capable monstrosities, and in all cases there are owned by a fleet-based chapter and guarded heavily against actual combat.
