Just something that came to mind that I thought I'd discuss here.

Dark Eldar Warp Beasts, as well as the Enslavers and Vampyrs (as far as I know, Vampyrs have only been mentioned, and never really elaborated on, although you're more than welcome to prove me wrong) are all creatures that are said to come from the Warp. However, it has never been specifically stated that these creatures are considered to be daemons, despite their place of origin (in fact, Enslavers and Vampyrs seem to have been mentioned separately to Daemons in the 4th edition rulebook). Are these creatures technically daemons or not?

Enslavers are not. I don't know all the fluff on them, but they exist half in the warp and half out. They turn psykers into gates to let more of themselves manifest- I've seen it put forward, although it may be speculative fan-fiction, that they are the last attempt of the Slann to "pacify" the warp.

Vampyrs are unknown.

Warp Beasts seem to be lesser Daemon packs, pulled into the Webway from the warp, giving them more stability. The old Daemon packs. So I'd say yes, they're probably Daemons, although they could be related to Enslavers or the last degenerate descendents of the Enslavers.

There are whole manner of organisms in the warp and not all of them could be deomons maybe they are a special kind of xenos that exists there.

Last degenerate descendants? Enslavers are still alive and kicking, you know. A Chapter Approved article a few years ago had rules (and a conceptual sketch) for them.

Hmmm... and if Warp Beasts ARE Daemons, then I fail to see why Chaos forces don't get 'em too. Of course, they can now (thanks to "rulius daemonicum screwoverca genericum"), but why would they? The models are *********** terrible, just like the vast majority of the DE range (the only exceptions I can think of are Urien Rakarth and the Incubi models).

EDIT: Meant Incubi, not Mandrakes... changed now.

Daemons are fragments of the conscious mind of Chaos.
Warp entities - such as Astral Hounds, Enslavers, Psychonneuin (sp?) and the various other 'Warp Beasts' are actually creatures in the Warp and not fragments of one.

EDIT: And for the record, Warp Beasts are probably a variety of the various creatures that live the Warp, such as the Astral Hounds I mentioned.

From the descriptions of them (by which I mean Warp Beasts), especially the "born from the terror of the Dark Eldar's captives" part, actually indicates that they are real Daemons.

Here is a link to an old thread that has the RT description (and I believe only description) of 40K Vampires.

Very interesting stuff there... never knew that.

Of course, as to whether these "Vampyrs" are the same thing as Vampires (as the Vampyrs are said to live in the Warp)... well, that's best left to our imaginations for now.

That's a great description. I wonder if some Haemonculi specialise in "capturing" (summoning) them and sell them on to the Wyches?
