Ok so we had an "incident" last night trying to get our campaign off to a start.....

A dwarven player thought that the runesmith special character's hammer (can't remember names now....) was going to destroy armor everytime he hit the hammer and affected the unit.....because of something about "striking" vs. hitting (he does play Magic....) but we interpreted it as close combat only.....

any clarifications from anyone?

I don't really get what you are asking...

If Thorek hits in combat, and the opponent does not have a Ward save or fails his Ward save, the opponent's armour is destroyed. Where is the problem?

Possibly the idea that the hammer's ability to destroy armour would be conferred on to the anvil's attacks, specifically the rune of wrath and ruin. While a very clever interpretation of the wording, I'm nearly certain that the benefits of any runic weapon only apply in close combat. Things could get pretty silly otherwise given the runic weaponry available to regular runelords.

Atz is right, that was the interpretation of the dwarf player, which was overruled....
