hey out there in warseer land. i'm probably going to be starting up an Ork army with the release of the new models.

i've never much gotten into conversions much. and was wondering if anyone had some ideas or suggestions.

i found this army on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120186812278&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching

it's a truely nice army and i was wondering if you guys had any more ideas as to what i could do to pull off stuff as nice as the above auction.

Wow, that army is even located conveniently close to you near Pittsburgh, PA. You could pick it up and skip shipping charges!

After you strip all those models, I'd head to The Waaagh! for some great inspiration, painting & converting advice.

there's a few really nice ork armies in the area and i've always wanted to give it a shot. i was just looking for other sources of inspiration.

Spend 500.00+ for a painted army and strip it. Yeah, that makes sense.

To OP:

I'm calling a spade a spade here - you're from Pittsburgh, the auction is in Pittsburgh, and there's a guy posting that this very ork army is for sale on eBay (http://www.hellfiregamingclub.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=32&func=view&id=1015&catid=25) on the forum you have linked in your signature.

Are you pimping your own auction here? I mean, wouldn't it be easier to ask the guy in your own gaming club about it?

i do know of the guy who's selling the army. i don't know him very well and have asked him how he did the conversions and what not, but he hasn't responded. i was mearly posting it here as a point of reference of an ork army that i like.

this was not intended to be an advertisement. i'm not trying to "put one over" on you guys or anything...

was just trying to have a dialogue

the best place for orky conversions is the The Meks Garage (http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/index.php?showforum=2)over at the waaagh. On warseer its The Who Loves Orks (http://warseer.com/forums/groups-and-factions/33080-who-loves-orks.html)thread for conversions and tactica.

Sarcasm noted, and no, it doesn't make sense to spend $500.00+ on an army with poor to mediocre painting. In those cases, you would want to look at the base cost of the models involved for an approximate value.

Maybe it was just the mold lines on the Warboss that cried out for Simple Green & a file. :p

Da Reddanecks has the right of it on conversion infoz.

I get a "crazy eddie" type feel from the auction wording. He acts like he's made the most insane conversions ever!

Obviously doesn't spend much time on the Waaagh ;)

This is really not that great of an army. Especially considering most of the tanks won't be useable in the new codex or they will have to be gun wagons that are overpriced and not worth taking. Need to spend more time in the meks garage at the waagh to see some really great conversion.
