Alrighty, sorry if this is a duplicate but I like to make a little contest to see who can manage the strongest force only including 2 codexes maximum, and more kudos to anyone who uses just one codex. You can use multiple traits in multiple armies for marines, and doctrines for imperial guard as the same army, but only enough to be 2 different styles of armies, for example one marine force would have one set of traits, while the other has no traits, yet its the same codex. Got how this works?

Points limit in 2 categories. Army lists including two pure enemies from the apocalypse allies chart are not allowed.
2k Limit for many-player games.
6k Limit for few-player games.

You can post both lists, and remember, dont go too out of whack like having necron pariahs along side grey knights or something like that.

The direct goal, balance to fight anything in any given situation, and complete any objective. An army of drop troop sentinels with teleporting terminators is a good example.

I will start off with my 2k and 6k lists.

2000
16 Indirect Fire Basilisks (go figure!)

6000
48 Indirect Bas.... nevermind..
(Heed the Wisdom+Scions of Mars-Eye to Eye, Space Marines)
10xDreadnoughts: Missile Launchers, TL-Lascannons, Venerable = 1550
4xTechmarines: 4 Tech Servitors = 420
4xRazorbacks: TL Heavy Bolters = 280
6xVindicators: Machine Spirit = 870
3xWhirlwinds: Vengeance = 255
9xPredator Annihilators: Lascannons = 1305
12 Predator Destructors: Heavy Bolters = 1320

A balance between both anti infantry and anti vehicle firepower with tech marines to repair damaged vehicles from behind transported around. The whirlies add support where needed, and the tank battleforce applies pressure everywhere. If facing a IG tank company, well I think there are enough lascannons to deal with 35 Leman Russes effectively enough. 48 Basilisks though, that would be rough.

Wow, tahts pretty boring

I mean at that point, if your foe has the same desgine ideas you do, what good are the HB gona do?

Can always run the Heavy Bolter vehicles to hit the side/rear armor of the enemy tanks, and force their fire on them. Even the whirlies can go 12" a turn to get at the rear of another tank.

I guess nobody is into sharing their apoc ideas.

You only posted it today! This "nobody" you talk about hasn't had a chance to read it!

But, I'd want 18 hammerhead/skyray, in 4 datasheets. Fire warriors in Devilfish for objectives. And Barracuda for all the rest of the points.

No, because this one is daft. I don;t want to play a game of Snorepocalypse thank you very much.

Well, technically the point of Apoc isn't to trick out massive Uber army lists to the point that they are undefeatable. The focus of Apoc is to play less competitive, more epic fluffy battles and silly fun battles.

My entry would have to be as many Landspeeder Tornadoes as I can fit into 2K and 6K... I win by default because they have Rending.

In real life, I'm doing a Grenadier force and stuff.

thats the most boring army I've seen in a long, long time. I also find it insulting as I run a venerable dreadnaught heavy army but unlike you I actually do it properly. Each of my ten dreadnoughts has a different weapons load-out and for some of them I use dreadnaught options from IA2.

and 48 Basilisks? why would you even think that would be cool? "Oh heres my rolling artillery battery, no support units or even backround to it just a bunch of ordnance dur dur dur."

Apocalypse is about a narrative storyline, not cheesing your army to the point that it would be at home in Wisconsin.

So, you're saying 12 Baneblades would smell of cheddar?

How about 4 Baneblades and 2000pts of Russ' rolling forward along side 1000pts of Chimera mounted Stormtroopers with 1000pts of artillery (Basilisks) for support?

No one ever take the baneblade challenge before? I enjoyed that even though it nearly wiped me out

I dont like playing small apoc lists, so the basilisk thing is a joke, sorry for not adding a " :p " to it to make it easy to spot. It must be my fault, really it is! [/sarcasm]

The 6k list is fluffy for a force-world supported chapter with the proper traits to resemble it. The troops are piloting the tanks because there is a 1k limit to marines, and well since it would take what, 2 marines per whirlie, 2 per vindi, 1 per dread, 2 or 3 per predator thats what, 50 or more marines+4 techs? A hot drop detachment to clear the way for drop pod assault. It is quite fluffy, and the ven dreads although plain and stale, they are factory-style based. Meaning, they dont customise their dreads, simply because they dont have the means to. Straight out of the factory and when your wounded, your stuffed in one. I wont take the time to explain myself any further to negative comments, perhaps asking *why* I take this sort of list would be more constructive rather then bashing it.

and*

I didnt mean 'Nobody', I should have used the words No-One instead.

I never get this sort of attention on BnC, so please excuse my shock as I havent experienced this sort of rudeness in years.

For which I as a new member apologise for.

No. No we can't. I am so full of hatred, I must berate people and destroy everyone's hopes and dreams! [/sarcasm]

Seriously, sorry if I sounded rude, but I am looking forward to my first Apoc game, and I am very cautious about fellow gamers seeing Apoc as simply an opportunity to make bigger versions of thier already optimized and super competitive armies. Which will not be fun to play against in the least.

@Muttman: I'm not even going to get started on punching holes through your ideas of "fluff", it wouldnt be worth my time.

and no, I cant be nice. I dont mean to sound rude. I mean to sound uncompromising which may very well be interpreted as rude.

In that case, your attittude sucks, if you can't work on it nothing you say is of any interest

Do unto others before they do unto me, thank you. I'm not paranoid, they are out to get me.

Anyway, if I were to be a total progtadlesnat (made up expletive) in a small game, I'd fill the chart with Baneblades. In a large game, various combinations of AC Landspeeders and Termies, Falcons, and LasPlas squads would do the trick. Or perhaps as many Concscripts as I could find, in fifty-man units. The game is about objectives, and for every unit that was whittled down enough to flee, I'd have three more advancing. Plus, there'd be no way to contest an objective from me.

Plus the game would never move beyond four turns, I mean, moving 750 models, by the Emperor. A larger game would easily see more than a thousand!

An effectively infinite number of deep striking veterans/storm troopers with plasma and melta guns. Boring, boring, boring, but pick a target, drop people on it until you get reasonable weight of fire, repeat. And you ought to have enough scoring units to dispute all objectives.

I actually use a infantry company, tank company and a few platoons of specialist troops. It's balanced, sensible, fluffy and fair.

Its hard as a new poster to get what people mean all the time its no biggie. Also, when it rains, it rains hard and sometimes even critisism can seem a little too negative, lets just get this thread back on topic!

Post your 2k and 6k lists, (or whatever you own).
