View Full Version : How would one create...

An Adeptus Mechanus army? I have a techmarine and servitors, but how would I expand said 'army'? Pictures of conversions or ideas would be fabulous. Also, can I give them a dark angels influencial twist as long as I provide fluff? Thanks.

There's some AM armies in the sci fi project logs you should check out. They are really cool.

Most of the time, the AM is represented using the Lost and the Damned army list. You could use the Daemonhunter codex as well. The head magos is the inquisitor lord, tech priests are elites inquisitors, stormtroopers are skitarii, etc.

If you want to stick with a space marine list, definately use a lot of speeders and landraiders. Why? Both were invented by the famous Arch Magos Land. (At least I think its arch magos). You can read about him in the landraider index astartes article.

An AdMech army also works with the IG. Skitarii, the main troops of the AdMech can be represented by guard doctrines (cyber enhancements, carapace armor, techpriest enginseers, etc). You can even add Inquisitorial allies to represent other things (Arco-flagellants = electoo priests, etc).

The AM and the Marines are separate entities, so they would not normally be a combined force (DA Master leading the AM wouldn't fly). But, you could make a force containing elements of both, especially since DA Techmarines do not take up force org slots. Perhaps the Master of the Forge is going to war with a lot of the armory with him (bring back the Iron Wing-all mechanized). Or an AM exploratory force searching for lost tech and the DA send some muscle in return for information on a certain traitor.

GWQ, ages ago, released a "trial" or prototype Ad mech list, which was/is pretty cool.
You can find it here (http://www.thedarkfortress.co.uk/tech_reports/codex_adeptusmechanicus.htm) if you're interested.:):chrome:

Actually I was thinking more of doing a pure Adeptus Mechanus army, but with a little Dark angels symbolry here and there. Would this work?

A good convertor would have fun with Dark Angel and Necron sprues for a Mechanicus army

I don't see Dark Angels iconography fitting into an Ad Mech army. They have their own iconography and philosophies.

For my Ad Mech army, I am going to use the IG codex with Grenadiers and Storm Troopers representing my Hypastpists, Servitors will stand in for Infantry Platoons with Carapace and Cyber Enhancement, Techpriest Enginseers, and Allied Inquisitors will "count as" additional Tech Adepts.

Okay, so maybe they would not really associate with the Dark Angels, but how would you model one?

You could always have a small DA detachment accompanying an ad mech force to redcover some important relic...

I use Codex:Witchhunters to represent AM.
The Inquisitor lord as a Magos, arco-flaggelants as electro-priests, stormtroopers as skitarri, SoB as tech-guard, penitent engines as war engines,
I use acts of faith as "blessings of the omnisiah"

I personally am using Dark Angel veterans minus the shoulderpads, and like marv am using Codex:Witchhunters.

I have a converted DA vet as my HQ, with a retinue from the techmarine boxset you have, for the servitors. (Only 3 of them as I believe that's the max). I then have 9 DA vets with the extra servitor armed with a bolter, as a sisters' squad. Then the techmarine is an elite, serving as a techpriest. I have an LR and a Rhino to add in, and next I'm getting another 10 DA vets as my second squad, probably.

First option: Wait for Imperial Armour #7 and the Adeptus Mechanicus models for that.
Second option: Have a look at the following threads:

When I was at Warhammer World in September there was a nice AM army in the display cabinets.

They also had a nice Termite.
