View Full Version : The Fra'al, anyone know anything?

I remember several years ago, with one of the Battlefleet Gothic books, the Fra'al were an alien race briefly mentioned and given rules for a single class of ship. Does anyone know anything about them beyond this? Have they even been mentioned anywhere else?

If I recall, they're supposed to be the 40k universe's version of the standard grey aliens with big black eyes. Other than that, I haven't a clue about them...

Hmm. I'm not sure if that description is actually from the "canon," or if it stems from the Fraal (http://www.wizards.com/d20modern/images/mm_gallery/51675_CN.jpg) existing in the various d20 Modern module settings as the name of, yep, the "greys" (there were also undead-Fraal aka "Bodaks (http://www.wizards.com/d20modern/images/mm_gallery/51656_CN.jpg)," and the half-Fraal...in the d20 Future module they're noted as being at human progress level + 2 or so (fyi, d20 Future progress levels go from 0-9+, with 0 as stone age and 9 as "Clarke's Law" levels; we're currently a PL 5 "Information Age" civilization)). I mentioned this waaay back on a "let's discuss all the aliens in 40k" thread, but I'm really not sure if this is any more true or revealing than trying to connect the Rashan to the mythological/D&D Rakshasa.

There's some "fanfluff" here (http://www.gothicwar.ukf.net/new_ships.htm#fraal), but that's all I can scrounge up.

I vaguely rember reading somewhere that they were a stocky reptillian race who tended towards the slow and ponderous. I cannot remember if that was canon or not though.
