I bought the Daemon Prince a while back, as I want to start a Death Guard army as well... Haven't yet touched it with paint, but by goodness, is this an inspiration!!

And you're a girl? My my, a girl with a fascination for Nurgle! Sounds good to me! :D

Please keep us up to date! I for one would love to see more! (Big fan of all things Nurgle)

My my that looks sick!!! It even looks awesome without the legs... Kind of like a flying piece of severed yuckiness! :D

And no, I don't frequent the Free Time Warrior. I run a club in Wormerveer, which is next to Zaandam, close to Amsterdam! If you're ever in that area on a Friday night, you're more than welcome to join our little gathering of nerds! :D

Is it possible to take a pic with the legs and body attached? I'm curious as to how the red/pink works with the green! It looks yummie!! Keep up!!!

as a long time death guard player/painter i must say im very impressed, the skin on that DP i so unique (i.e not the pasty white shin that GW depict on all their nurgle DP's.

i do have one slight critique: on the pread, The dirty great finger print on the second picture down, apon the gun sheild of the lasscannon. id say just get a knife and scrape away at it, should come right.
other than that i really dig where this is going.

Phaia
25-12-2007, 20:51
Yes i saw it to on the picture. it has already been removed

This army is gonna look sweet...

Great conversions and details, keep it up. I espescially love the pred conversions and the deamon princes flesh tones.

Can't wait to see more of the army.

Starfarer
26-12-2007, 05:16
The Daemon Prince looks great. The colors are awesome and the conversion is very well done.

On the pred you use a similar technique with GS to what I do but I think the GS bits look a bit too uniform. The consistency of plain circles doesn't quite look right. I've found random patterns work a bit better. Also with the holes pressed in the greenstuff I've found using different sized tools gives a better overall effect. I simply use a paperclip for the largest holes, then a toothpick for smaller holes and finally the center wire from the end of a piece of guitar wire for tiny holes. It would be very easy to add more to what you've done and I think it would improve the model alot.

Here's some pics of my landraider showing my technique:

If you're in Holland, where did you buy them with 30% off? Looks awesome!

Phaia
27-12-2007, 17:26
The landraider isnt mine. It was at ducosim convention in december. Last week there was a 50% discount at an online store. Bought my chaos tide of spawn box there.

Er zijn overigens meer dan genoeg winkels die sowieso 20% korting geven. Free time warrior in Leiden doet dat. In rotterdam eens in de zoveel tijd en op ducosim (eens per kwartaal) is er altijd wel 20 of 30% korting

Phaia
27-12-2007, 18:09

Very well done! Definately a 5 rating from me.

You could have some death guard walking across their bases and everywhere they step, the grass is brown and shrivelled. The rest of the base can be like you have it, lush and green. It shows the power of nurgle IMO. Just a thought!

Keep it up!

Wow you are a fast painter!! I haven't finished an actual model in weeks!! (Bar one piece of scenery...)

Your tanks makes me want to finish my Land Raider a bit quicker now! :D (Check my Vindar 136 link to see how I progressed)!

PS: Are you a member of the club in Rotterdam? Mayhaps we can send some people from our club sometimes for some friendly club versus club battling?

Well, keep up! I am looking forward to see more of your Death Guard! Now if only I could find some time to paint up mine... :S

Oh well!

Phaia
02-01-2008, 17:02
We can definitely arrange that. There are several guys who play a lot (just 40k though) and that really would be fun.

I am hit with the stomach flu so at this time there's a bit delay unfortunately. I only painted one extra plaguemarine so far :(.

I really want to finish this army before March 8th. Ducosim 40k tournament is at that date. You should participate to. Easy going mood there.

Your rhino's look like alot of fun to paint (actually all you tanks look like alot of fun to paint).

Your Daemon prince looks great, well except for the left arm looks like it should have a shoulder pad, it just looks very wierd next to the chest armour, but regaurdless oyu painted it very very well.

What's your list going to look like when it's all finished?

Oh my goodies!! You're way too fast!! I might have to get back to work on my Raider tonight!! I need to finish it!!!

By the way, what colours did you use to paint your marines and tanks? I still need to decide on what colours I want to use...

Oh and did you get my email? I sent you one about the Freetime Warriors!
Feeling better by the way?

Keep up!!

Phaia
07-01-2008, 15:08
I haven't received your email I am afraid. I will check if it stands correct (not in this topic, don't want any spam :))

I use Vallejo Model Colors. Starting with US Dark green, Grey green and last stone grey.

Not complety feeling better still got amnesia :(

A cool tip for corrosion I saw in a WD a few years back (he didn't want too chaosy and felt this nicely represented corrupt "rust"... one of the few things that corrodes adamantium-plasteel with age.)

1. Place a nice dollop of superglue on the surface (zap-a-gap)
2. Using an eye dropper, 'plop' the glue with droplets of water. This instantly solidifies the glue, but the glue holds the indentation of the splash. (suitably randomly too)

Just something I thought you might find useful.

Do you have examples I am not sure if I understand this....
