Has anyone seen these cool models (http://www.metal-models.co.uk/) before? I saw the space marine one last year at Camden Market for alot more than on this site and thought it was pretty cool. I may well have to get me one of those. R2D2 is a bit poo though.Any thoughts?

Some of them look great, but most of the time, in person they're a bit rubbish, really fairly boring honestly, a small one is fine, but I wouldn't drop much money on something that justs takes up shelf space.

I sorta like them, but sometimes I don't, hard to cast my opinion really,

I think this is something you do, not something you buy. It's not a hobby I'd pick up, but putting together such a model might be an entertaining and challenging activity for some. And they can probably appreciate a finished model for the work that went into it.
But that's all the good I can see in it really. I don't see how it qualifies as "art" so long as it's just imitating existing designs. I'd rather buy an original 'sculpture' to put on display.

Personally though I don't like mechanical stuff like that anyway. Partly because of the colour (or lack thereof) and partly because I've never liked cars, bikes and machines in general. The whole feel of these things just turns me off. But by the same arguements as above I wouldn't buy a model of Chewbacca made out of dried leaves either.
