I don't think you can using the standard drivers, it is supposed to be possible to mod the XBOX for them to work but I know several people who've knackered 360's trying to get windows drivers for things to run so you might want to be cautious.

It's not much cheaper, but I ended up using an ethernet over electricity adapter set for my Xbox. I am extremely anal in regards to wireless stuff, and would always prefer a wired connection as opposed to a wireless one.

I got a 360 wireless adapter for christmas. Well worth the money. Seriously.

I also have just purchased the official 360 wireless adapter; putting aside the issues I had with actually setting up the wireless network the item itself was very easy to use.

I found this site useful:

It does say you're unlikely to be able to use any other adapter but rumours on the net suggests others have had some success.

Whilst I would have to say the wireless adaptor is seriously overpriced for what it does... it does work extremely well and is simplicity itself to use.

I managed for 6 months by just connecting directly from the ethernet port cable to modem, depending on where your modem is this might be just as easy.
