Yea, the inevitable hath happened. As the tolling of the great bell draws near, a thread mysteriously appears in RM for new years resolutions.
so, good forumers, what sins are you purging from yourselves this year, what neglected things shall be given more attention (painting is pretty much a given, although I doubt it being on my list will change anything), what new experiences are you seeking out (young 'uns, keep it clean)
My resolutions are as follows

get a job (even if it is just the uni bar)
get my provisional driving license
turn some of this fat into muscle (though not lose weight, 12 stone is fine for my height)
learn when to stop drinking, rather than waking up on a bench or collapsing in my doorway
be less of a cynical B-word (despite the reasons life keeps giving me to be so)

there's probably a few more, but thats all I can think off for now. your turn people.

Get a mohawk. I've been saying I will for like ever by now. I'm going to finally do it goddamn it.
Dye my hair. See above.
Get some piercings. Once again, see above.
Spread more awareness about the local goth and punk scene. Seriously, the few bands we have over here need some help.
Spread awareness about important issues. The way the schools (around here at least) don't work, other things like that which people my age (16 or so, you know, high school age) would care about.
Try to make a difference doing the above. If I can just get one person to think about what they are doing, what others are doing and how they could change that for the better; then I'e done my duty.

1: Go to the Gym, or bike ride, or power walk. Anything at all, that leads to me getting into shape. I have a good BMI (A little on the thin side actually) but I'm about as fit as a... My simile fails me, something that's quite unfit at any rate.

2: Get out and be atleast a little more sociable (The loneliness is actually killing me)

3: Find a way to better curb my... Abrasive, nature. - I am seeing people about this, but I know that they alone can't change this in me, I have to want it.

as a student the only way you're going to succeed at 1 is by failing miserably at 3 :D

4 seems simple enough. for more of a challenge you want to try 48 hour drinking binges. I hear that makes lectures more bearable.

1) Getting to a Magic The Gathering PTQ/Event and actually doing well. Actually **** it, winning an FNM would do. Or just beating Conor Holmes once.

2) Getting an actual date without resorting to trickery and elaborate ruses .

3) Getting over to England and elsewhere to see a few of you guys, I just found out an old mate of mine's recently moved to Sheffield and a few of you are over there so I can probably see a few of you if I can get over to visit him (although unfortunately I couldn't get the time off work for the Wastes social so that's out).

4) Get in a couple of games of Warhammer with my flatmate Ryan. Despite the fact that I now live with a bunch of gamers you'd be suprised how little hobby stuff I've managed to do with any of them.

5) Work out how my bastarding Ipod works

Paint my armies.

And finally, try and be happier.

I have a few:

1) Lose 2 stone, and maintain that weight (putting me to 12 stone at 5'11")
2) Get a girlfriend... not necessarily a long-term relationship, but just get myself to a point where I feel comfortable actually approaching someone and getting a date, and then getting a second one.
3) Fully build and paint all my armies!

And the big one...

4) Write, draw & web-publish my story as a 100(ish)-page webcomic. (the plot's written, but not any finalised scripts. Look for a link in my sig soon, hopefully!)

1) Decide on several possible courses for uni, and a career I would like to do.
2) Learn to drive (I was going to do it anyway, but meh)
3) Get a weekend job
4) Get my love for this hobby back
5) Get some nice lookin' muscles on my chest and arms

I think those are achievable.

01-01-2008, 00:39

Not much tbh:

1) not be so tired
2) keep on top of my school work

Good luck in the new year...

Oooh! Putting it on Warseer can make it official! Maybe there would be a way to come back to this at the end of next year, to see how we do?

Resolutions:
1.) Not be an angry ****, which if I keep my resolutions, this will happen.
2.) Painting, obviously; Have three armies completely painted.
3.) Create a healthier lifestyle. Notice, healthier...
4.) Find a halfway decent job.
5.) Teach my girlfriend to drive, so I am no longer a 'soccer' mom. Well, 'soccer' boyfriend.
6.) Actually play some Warhammer with people in TN!
7.) Begin the path of organization.
8.) Learn to play a real guitar (curse you Guitar Hero!)

I think that is enough for now..... Happy New Year everyone!

Happy new year!

(and congrats on getting hitched, Arznipal...did so last year, and no regrets as yet :D)

My only real resolution is to get the creative juices flowing again... more writing, and definitely more mini painting.

Otherwise, either moving into a new place or going on a long vacation would be nice (probably end up doing one of the two).

Ah well, lets make it at least mildly official...

1) Lose some weight - and keep it off!
2) Pass my mechanics course
3) Move out of my mates house and in with another friend.
4) Snare a girl. Any girl. so long as she's funny and doesn't look like Anne Widdicombe, I don't mind.
5) Pay my bills - this one is going to be quite difficult....

2. Finish VWO 4, and proceed on to VWO 5. (something school-related for you non-Dutch guys)
3. Try to finish at least 2/3 of my IG army. That's still more than 2000 points, but luckily, I have a Baneblade, and it's nearly finished.

Of course, because we're disposable pleasures...

1) Get a better job (doubt it, so I'll settle for being promoted after the work coup)
2) Be better with my money

Edit

3) Be greener! I'm pretty green already (recycling, don't own a car, energy-saving bulbs, turn things off at the plug etc.) but there must be something else I can do.

Eat less, exercise more.
Stop being so selfish, caustic or callous.
Use the word "like" and "apparently" less then at present.
Don't be so self-aware.

We'll see how long that lasts though. Apathy and self loathing are a useless combination. There's something you dislike about yourself but you just can't be arsed to chage.

Hideous Loon
02-01-2008, 13:37
I have few resolutions, since they don't seem to last. I intend to quit smoking (when you cough up small pieces of pleghm and get horribly sore-throated when trying to speak, it's generally time). I am not sure I shall pull through with this endeavour, but I shall try.

I shall also try to get rid of the emotional pain and emptiness I feel sometimes, either by burying myself in work or seeking professional help. Anything, really.

Ohhh I have a list of resolutions/aspirations for 2008:

1. Stop eating rubbish food - i'm slim and athletic and have my daily vitamins but boy i eat crap!

2. Actually paint some models - just over half of all the armies in my signature are unpainted!

3. To organise a holiday for all my friends, possibly road trip around Europe. It looks so much fun, and i'm sure i'd have some funny stories to tell after!

4. Go somewhere outside of Europe, preferably america or australia - if i can drag any of my poor student friends along :D

5. To become used to the taste of whisky, tea coffee.....urgh....why do people like them?

6. To socialise with people at work. Usually hang out with my mates from uni/college and guess it'd be better to know people more personally!!

7. To buy my own house/flat, seriously need to move out now i'm 19!!

8. To learn how to cook properly so i'm not such a spaz in the kitchen! Gooooo eggs on toast ;)

9. To find a girl! :D

10. To pass all my chartered accountancy exams - ooooh dear they're gonna be tough! Get sacked if i fail by more than 10% :O

11. To keep my new car clean!

12. To go see more Leeds United (legends) matches! ... **We're marching on together!!**

13. To give blood - I keep meaning to do it but I only remember when it's donation time....think I might register now while it's on my mind! Or failing this do some charity work!

14. TO HAVE A ********** AWESOME TIME :D

Communism is for fools and tyrants. (not really. I just don't like it. no offense to my commie friends out there ;) ) Social Anarchism is where it's at, my friend.

Failing that, a government that heavily limits big corporations, provides universal health care coverage...you know, all that hippy crap we are always going on about.

Ah, but I digress...

EDIT: Really, if I had my way, there would be no flag. Blah blah blah, symbol of nation. All they are good for is wiping me **** with. And even then, they tend to be rather abrasive and nasty. Somehow fitting ,eh?
