Well, you would have to look at Eldar history. At a certain point the Eldar ruled over the galaxy, having this huge empire. During this time the Eldar had machines who did all their work, meaning that the Eldar had time to persue other things...pleasure. Pleasure cults formed and Eldar society basically turned into one twisted and insane orgy. The Exodites were the first to realise this was dangerous and left, later on the Craftworlders followed (also when the Fall occured). Then the Fall happened, Slaanesh was born and most Eldar died that moment. The Dark Eldar escaped into the Web Way and are probably closest to those original Pre Fall Eldar.

They never were real happy, nice, sweet, innocent little Eldar. ;)

Actually, they are the original Eldar. Happy normal eldar are the ones who couldn't take true power so they ran away on their Craftworlds.

But you must remember that DE don't worship Slannesh. They simply do the very actions that caused her to come into being and the same actions that give her power.

But they don't worship her. No way.

Well, there's >this (http://uk.games-workshop.com/darkeldar/torturer/)< story from the lips of Vect himself. Really, almost none of the Dark Eldar were "happy lil normal eldar"--they were the last dregs of a collapsed civilization, a civilization that was well on its way to ruin even before the final events of the Fall birthed the Eye of Terror. They were raving blood cultists then as they are now.

A few might worship...<She Who Thirsts>...though.

I think that's just Crone World Eldar. As I see it:

Exodites ran away before the Eldar civilization collapsed into depraved hedonism. Their lifestyle is simple and restrained, and as such their deeds do not feed Her and She cannot get a grip on their souls. They are also protected from Her upon death by their spirit stones.

Craftworlders ran away just before the birth of She Who Thirsts, having tried in vain to stop the downward spiral of their race's ethics. They were the few who remained sane, and possibly a few who repented their ways. Their Path system combined with the protection of spirit stones breaks the hold She has over them and so they do not suffer from the Thirst.

Dark Eldar survived the birth of She Who Thirsts, but immediately fled in terror into the Webway. There the soul-draining effect was lessened, and they continued to live as they had done before the Fall (ie as depraved bloodthirsty hedonists). But fed by their deeds She Who Thirsts still had a hold over them and gradually began to drain away their souls again, eventually killing them and claiming them completely upon death. This soul-leaching process led to the Thirst - the need to consume the souls of others to replenish their own. While a Dark Eldar still has some soul energy remaining, s/he can not be fully claimed by Her and can, in theory, live forever. Unfortunately, the very act of soul-eating feeds Her and increases Her hold, making the Dark Eldar's pursuit of souls increasingly desperate. Spirit stones have no effect on Dark Eldar as Her pull on their souls is too strong.

Crone World Eldar survived the Fall and did not flee - they stayed and welcomed Her with open arms. They are, in essence, Chaos Eldar, devotees of She Who Thirsts and due to their innate psychic abilities some of the most dangerous beings in the Eye of Terror. If they ever appeared in the game, I imagine it would be like fighting an army of Culexus Assassins :S They are the only Eldar who worship Her. It is probable that their souls are long gone, but She keeps them alive to do Her bidding.

¨You might find one or two, sure. Generally, Eldar's don't worship chaos, as they know what happens to you. Both what happens to you when the other eldars find out, and what happens to you in a metaphysical sense.

Remember, the Warp is very real to Eldars, and they are fully aware when they die. They know what happens to there soul, and Slaanesh consider Eldar souls the greatest of treats.

Few is the Eldars who will willingly offer up there soul to eternal damnation and torment.

Dark Eldar's do what they do because A) they need to(harvest souls) and B) they enjoy it. They don't need Slaanesh for that. In fact, the majority of there existance is trying to fend off the drain of She Who Thirsts(ever wondered why the Eldars call Slaanesh that?).

Remember the Slaanesh worshipping DE in the Soul Drinker books. He said he was the first and only one who followed Her.

So there could be more..

Yeah but it's as rare as a Grey Knight falling to Chaos.

Overall the Dark Eldar are even more terrified of Slaanesh than the Craftworld Eldar, because without a spirit stone and their infinity circuits, their souls are constantly being sucked away by The Great Enemy, hence their need to suck someone else's soul away.
