View Full Version : I'm having trouble naming my Splinter/Successor Army

Hi guys I'm looking for help with a new Chaos project that I'mm working on.

I'm wanting to build a new Chaos Marine army based on the ideas of Piracy and the Iron Warriors or that kind of thing.

So here's what I've got so far to help me;

> Iron
> Steel
> Ferrous
> Buccaneers
> Privateers
> Corsairs
> Brigands

I keep putting Steel Corsairs together but it seems so naff, I certainly wouldn't be too concerned with a Pirate group if they were called something like that.

In back story, to summarise, they are an Authorised Splinter group from The Iron Warriors charged with raiding Imperial Shipments in order to prepare for the main Grand Companies to make planet fall more easily. Nothing worse than turning up with only half your Equipment floating as debris. They wear slightly different colours to their bretheren, wearing Bolt Gun Metal with Regal Blue trim. I'm not intending to use many (if any) vehicles working on the idea that they are pretty useless for what this Splinter Unit do.

All help welcome

Reavers of Iron (or Iron Reavers).

the Steel Sabers?

the Steel Scimitars?

the Chrome Corsairs?

I like Chrome Corsairs, I was also thinking working along the Perturbo route too. Perhaps a less cheesy version of Perturbo's Privateers...

Iron crusaders
Steel legion
Flock of iron
Steel dragons
Iron Fangs
Iron/steel gauntlet
Just some though up a minute a go

Iron Lords are (IIRC) one of those pointless chapters that GW uses to fill out names.

So using that name as a chaos force noone would be any the wiser.

The Death Forge chapter?

Steel Legion is most certainly already taken...

If you have a character you've made up, you could certainly use their name in the title of your force. If not, I'm partial to the word Corsairs, but I don't think Chrome is the best choice for the word before it; I think Iron sounds better.

you can always name it after the warband's leader

Mordor Clegane's Steel Reavers

Does it have to invole something to do with pirating in the name?
Why not something that involves them striking out of nowhere and disapearing again? [Which is what pirates do]
Iron watchers
Warp stalkers
Void haunters
Poltergeists
The patient

Something like the Void Reavers, or similiar could all so work.

LMAO Ferrous Buccaneers!

Name them the Dread Legion, that name rocks.

Engineer's of Death/Fate/any other suitably grisly or chaosy word.

As to do with pirating.. hmm.

Iron Brigands has a ring to it for me.

We've got a name generator over at Heresy Online for Chaos Marines. However, please bear in mind that it's still in testing so occasionally something really naff (e.g Adroit Sharks) will be generated. Heres the link: http://www.heresy-online.net/forums/misc.php?do=page&template=testarea

If they're a splinter group of the Iron Warriors, what about the Iron Filings? :p

The Writhing Iron
The Steel-bloods
The Iron bayonets
The Steel Blood-bathers...?

Steel Bloodbathers would get the splinter all rusty... sorry I'm in a daft mood. I think I'm going to stick with the Iron Phantoms or Steel Phantoms. Throw a all Inf army together, then see what happens. Paintscheme will be Bolt Gun Metal as Primary with Regal Blue for secondary colour.

Cheers to everyone who contributed to this thread, you've all been brill.
