Sweet critters.

The creature feature rules are a bit dated now, and they feel very third edition. Especially when you add in that GW wants to streamline to USR's only.

That being said, I think it is a hhandy tool to make some unique things. I used it to make an old school RT Vampire stats once. The Carnosaur is pretty popular too.

The Carnosaur is hell on wheels, especially in a Apocalypse. Charge a super-heavy with it, destroy the superheavy spectacularly and then laugh maniacally as the ensuing explosion fails to knock more than a single wound off it.
And all this in a Space Marine army. I heartily recommend the Carnosaur. The creature-gen I'm not so sure on, haven't had an opportunity to try out my rending lions yet, but I suspect it'll be more suited to quantity-style critters rather than quality.

the reson i like them rules for the bugs is that would like to think that there would be more then just the other new races coming along and having a fight over a planet

I use a space marine riding a Carnosaur in nearly every game I play with the army. Not only because it's my favourite model and I'm a dinosaur freak but also because it's rock hard. It's a nice change to be able to field a monstrous creature with marines, and it's very cheap for what it can do. I'm planning on building another two or three for larger games too, especially since Apocalypse is ideal to use this sort of units.

Used the exploding frog a few times. Hilarious!

I once attempted to use the "Catachan Devil" list It was the one where HQ and heavy support were Catachan Devils and the rest of the slots were Immature Catachan Devils. Didn't work out too well for me.

I'm using the monstous creature (no carnosaur; a LotR Mūmakil with a howdah full of Praetorian nobility) and the lizard cavalry doctrine.

Er, I'm aware of the Creature Feature that was in the UK White Dwarf (that listed Enslavers, Plague Zombies, Catachan Devils etc), but what are these "make your own critters" that you speak of?

Nothing like a Guard officer on a large Dinosaur, especially if supported with rough riders on smaller lizards.
