I've updated with some linkage.
I'll post each time I add new ones.

I've begun work on three test skinks for the first 500 points of my Host, they should be done a bit later tonight as I experiment.

Just added a couple of WIP Turn Marker pictures.
Will be using the Skink Chief shown to be the marker.

Not quite sure how I'm going to paint the base now, but I didn't see another way of basing the plants and this way looks good.
Will be tricksy...

Hi and welcome to Warseer!:)

Your painting looks good; you seem to have solid brush control and a steady hand. May I ask for how long you've been painting?

I suggest you add some highlights and a bit of shading, especially on the Space Marines. Especially the Grey Knight dude and the Dread look quite flat with those big red areas. The conversions (especially the plasmagun guy) look very good. I think there's a lot of potential.

Of your work (what we've seen so far), I like the Angry Hobos best. Classic, cool miniatures and there are no big, flat areas (colourwise). Nice stuff; looking forward to seeing more of your work.

P.S.: One thing though; I know it's nothing big and double-posts aren't that much of a problem in painting logs but please don't double (or triple-)post too much in the log. Use the "edit"-button unless you have a real update.

Thanks :)
I've been in the hobby on and off for about 5-8 years (kind of depends if you count breaks!)
I enjoy the painting side, and love seeing a good model come together, as I hope to do with my Warseer marine!

[/QUOTE=sigur;2267312]I suggest you add some highlights and a bit of shading, especially on the Space Marines. Especially the Grey Knight dude and the Dread look quite flat with those big red areas. Yes, they are somewhat plain. Some of that is due to those being older models (I've not done full army painting in a good year or two, just the Warboss and the Blood Bowl team) I only did tentative highlights and the lighting in the photos, and I guess the models too, doesn't really pick them out, but they gave me a load of experience and confidence, which should help with the Lizardmen to come.
The Dreadnought is particularly flat, simply because he isn't highlighted at all. At that point of my painting lifetime, I wasn't particularly adventurous and mainly wanted armies to play with, so looks, whilst somewhat necessary, weren't high priority.
With the Space Marines though, I'm finished for now, until I do my Warseer, or later when I eventually get on to the Fire Hawks - never done a primarily yellow army and relish the opportunity :)

Actually, they're not that fantastic.
The Bull Centaur is a touch on the un-fleshy side, mainly 'cause I hate painting human/elf/dwarf flesh, Borak and the Warriors have a mostly black armour and the varnish doesn't seem to have protected them properly in their travels, to my minor annoyance...
They are cool models though, and they cause many casualties!
Cottontail (the Beastman) has caused no less than 6 BH+ injuries in the past 4 games.
Oh, and I should point out Jeremy, the Orcotaur, whom I made on a whim. Just an Orc Warboss without any weapons. I had thought about making him a Goblin army, based around his fanclub, but I've indefinitely sidelined it, due to wanting a proper, functional army!

P.S.: One thing though; I know it's nothing big and double-posts aren't that much of a problem in painting logs but please don't double (or triple-)post too much in the log. Use the "edit"-button unless you have a real update.

Righto, didn't really know how much I was allowed/supposed to double/triple post. I'll post again if it's been a few days now :)

Looks great. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get those shoulderpads with the flames on your captain?

Goruax
22-01-2008, 23:24
I mail ordered them, but they don't seem to do them anymore...
I was kind of annoyed, because it meant I couldn't expand my army anymore without loss of cohesion.

Unless they're now under LotD...
*/me scurries off to check*

[Edit:]
Found one set of LotD pads, but they've got skulls at the top:

Through boredom and yet a lot of models to create, I thought I'd snap my desk:
http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e246/Si1vershot/100_0150.jpg

Anyway, I'll put some WIP Terminators, Scouts and Tactical Marines up shortly (Still putting them together...)

Oh, and I have a Land Raider Crusader to assemble too...

Here's my new WIP Terminator Commander.
I felt my other one wasn't really Commander-y enough, so I've given him a metal-bald head and actually done some work to convert him, only a little bit, but it's a start.
He'll obviously get Green Stuff to fill in the gaps.

Oh, and I just couldn't sleep...if you were wondering.

He'll be getting a banner (and be the only Terminator with one) and the only un-helmetted one too.
I'm a bit shaky with green stuff, but he might, I'll have to experiment.

[Edit:]
I guess I could use on the ready-made ones...but I could always try and be adventurous :)

Here's another pair of pictures of him.
First is how he'll look, hopefully.
There is a difference in height from a normal Terminator, although only minor. I did it just to make him a little more imposing.

[EDIT 2:]
Added a second picture of Mr Daelo Summanas.
He's been stuffed with purest Green and had a couple of purity seals added.
Loincloth will stay off until much later, since it'd hinder the painting of his all-important crotch...what?

I've always thought that little mini-tabbard looked a bit dubious. May I suggest something longer? Nightrunner cloaks and High Elf Archer cloaks can work well, you just need to find someone with a spare one...
Are you building the whole army before you show us any painted Marines?

Cool, I'll check 'em out, then get haggling I guess.
I dunno what it is, but I always prefer to do my Commander first. Some kind of superstition I guess.
I'll hopefully get him done some, or maybe work on my Terminator Squad...hurrah for indecision!

After a good few hours of tinkering, swearing and finger-puncturing, I have almost 'finished' a whole sponson for my Crusader.

That still leaves the Multi-melta and Twin-Assault Cannons for me to convert...
Still need to finalise the sponsons, but they're almost ready, some glueing, green-stuffing and then mounting will do it.

What Multi-melta did you use?
I'm gonna be using the Devastator one, since it's got loads of power cables and I wanted the sprues anyway.

What about Assault Cannons?
I've yet to get any replacement ones right now, and need some ideas. Was thinking - maybe a pair of Terminator ones.

Hunter/killer mount with a Landspeeder Multimelta. Heavy Bolter turret with Assault Cannons from Ravenwing sprue. That sprue has 2 of them on it so is far better than cutting up the rare/sought after Terminator ones.

Well, got some work done on my Commander, he's still lookin very, very orange, but now has more than just black as another colour.
I'll get some pictures up shortly (and I actually will, promise!).

Also finished the Twin-linked Assault Cannon for the Crusader, courtesy of my unused Terminator Assault Cannons (that's basically a slap in the face for all those people who double up on their Terminator squads, muahahaha)
Started on properly converting the Multi-melta as well. Ian will probably have a chuckles, but I ended up scrapping the plastic Devastator one and am in the process of green stuffing it up, so it has cables and other gubbins.

Drilled the tops of a pair of Terminators and their respective Cyclones too, just for slightly easier storage in the case, but they're somewhat too big for a single space each, annoyingly.

Anyway, pictures in a little bit, gonna do some more work on the commander.

[EDIT: Pictures!]
The Commander is no where near done, he's mostly got his basecoat and second layer done across the board, but he's far from done.

Here's those updates I promised
(Only 32 hours late...)

Anyway, some pictures of Harry, his Chosen and Chosen Command group.
All very early PIP, not helped by my cripplingly slow painting...
Run-down of Chosen/Harry colour-scheme:
- White armour
- Dark silver trim
- Green light 'seeping' from cracks/edges of the armour, eyes, etc.

At least I managed to get spray paint rather than hand basecoating...might've been the end of it all otherwise!
But still, plenty of Orange ahead of me...

Thanks :)

Well, a minor update right now, but hoping to get another one up in a couple o' hours.

Thanks to Catferretface, I now have teh skillz to do some green stuffage.
Here is the work of aforementioned ecafterreftaC.

Will be doing more lightning bolts all over the chest plate, and then something on the right leg (not entirely sure what just yet)

Edit:

Done some more work on his breastplate, but not sure what to do with his chest-shield, any ideas?
Also would like to put something on his blank right shoulder pad. Considering some kind of Dragon/Drake like the Salamanders (especially since I got a few from BitsandKits for my Terminator Command Squad) but since he is more important, want something better.

Will also be creating my own, bigger purity seals out of the remaining green stuff of the day.

Oh, almost forgot - any ideas on what to put on his unadorned (the eye) leg?
I want to keep the eye, but not quite sure what to do.

Anyway, comments or criticism, fire away :)

Catferret

Seems that I have a monopoly on Cs, Fs and Es... :D

The chest looks better with some detail on but I can't help but feel the lightning would be better radiating out from a central point. Maybe that's just me.

I've still had no great ideas for the other leg. Personnal icon maybe? Sword or some sorta heraldic symbolage?

I see your point, but it just feels better, with what I had in mind.
The bolts are a little thick in some places, might try and tidy that up at some point.

Hmm, yeah, good idea. I would go with what his name means...but that's Night Lightning...tomorrow I shall get the noggin' working (of sorts!) and think of something. No vet's night for me (again!)

Did you get your pictures?

Update:
Been doing a little work on my to-be Chapter Master of the Roaring Titans, Tyrus Koios.
I really like his pose, and he's gonna get good green stuffage all over his armour, and going to try to get some good work on the breastplate.
His head's from the Commander Backpack, if you can't tell from the angle.

Looks cool. That's not actually gonna be his head is it?

It is. You sound disapproving?
Anyway, it is a helmet, not his actual head... ;)
He's called Koios, who was the Greek Titan of Intelligence, and I figured an Eagle would be a good theme for him. His breastplate will get a more ornate eagle on it.

Having seen the model in person I think you should go for the normal beakie helmet, since that one is a bit too narrow for a space marines enormous (yet empty :D) head.

Goruax

Yeah, you might be right.
I'm gonna leave him for awhile - going to concentrate on both regular Bolter Marines and Terminators. Might try and just go sole Deathwing until I can fully expand.

I think you could keep the idea but adapt it... say altering a beaky head to look more like an eagle head, that way you can stick to your guns and have an awesome looking chapter master.

I'd go with Cal on the Beakie. It's just the eagle is to small. If you could fasion the helmet to look like a beak then that would work.

You could try cutting the front off a Mk6 helmet (or any Marine helmet I guess) & replace it with the eagle's beak, keeping the coolness of the eagle but using a helm that would then look better sized.

Where's my quote damnit! :p

Anyway, tonight I will mostly be eating Cheesy Peas!
And sculpting more stuff onto my Terminator Dude. Might get round to altering the Master's helmet - might just take the ideas and apply them to a Terminator (probably my 'Champion' with Lightning Claws)

Update before I work today:
Got almost all of my 1500 point army assembled.

Here's a few pictures of my Termies, including three of my Assault Command.
Still got the Apothecary and Standard to finish, but they're needing to be stuffed with green.

Looks cool dude. Will you be getting any more termies? They be awesome of ness and win. Hells yeah!

There'll be a total of 25 Terminators in my Company, 26 including my Commander.
The Terminators'll also have Power Armoured Veteran counter-parts.

Basing all those 'Nators who have plain bases and finishing the last two Command Terminators (Apoth and Bearer)

Gr. Damn your terminators and their higing in buildings and sitting ontop of an objective and me stoopidly forgetting about the object of the game and getting naked. I mean beaten. We weren't playing strip Warhammer.

Next game you have to play pantless. And I get to keep them.
That's your penance (and p***s) for losing sight of the mission...and killing Commander Hitty-stick.

My forces are now divided; 2 Termy squads and a Vindicator are hiding at GW Edinburgh, so I don't need to lug them there every time I wish to paint something.
The other half sat next to me right now, looking all black and amalgamous.

Anyway, I guess I promised pictures so behold:
- my nigh-on finished 'Belial'/Commander Hitty-stick/Daelo Summanus
- my very black Thunder Hammer squad and my Command squad with the galaxy's biggest pole, something I'm proud of ;)
- my Librarian, ready to paint, and I dearly want to, but I'm saving him for the end as my 'painting treat' :(

Pictures, in order:
- My 1,500 point list as a Gathering
- My Librarian enjoying the 'Terrain' (See the Captain's log)
- My Commander, Back then Front
- Librarian, Back then Front
- Half of the Thunder Hammer Squad
- Second Half of the Thunder Hammer Squad
- The Command Squad
- MY HUGE POLE!

There's a lack of Rackham models here!

I take it you have one of the new drop pods or something?

Their website confuzzled me :wtf:
And Drop Pod? I have no such thing...I have Vindicators though, woop!

Must stop wooping...

Will be painting orange tonight, and then more tomorrow before I play Andy and Dell tomorra' night.
Will get pictures up after Vet's

Well, it's been quite a while since I last updated this old horse, so I figure why not put something in it.
And if that doesn't conjure up a disgusting mental image, you're not trying hard enough.

Anyway, without further ado, I present, my Warriors of Chaos, starting with my WIP Tzeentchian Disc Sorcerer, Erus Fateweaver, who seems to be flying around quite noncholantly.

Next is Tukaar Windlord, the Lord I converted for when Warriors were being released in Edinburgh...and the reason I am now collecting them :p

Last is the Musician for my first Warrior unit (which I finished last night, about 2 weeks over due tbh)

Goruax

And to begin this old-horse-insertion bonanza, I give you a double!

First (or fourth, but who's counting, not this horse!) is the actual unit of Warriors in a nice blurry group shot.

Next is the command group up close.

Lastly is the first work (actually second, 'cause I scrapped the first work) on my Warshrine.
It's gonna have 4 Flamer maws coming out of it, an Arco-flagellent (the kneeling one) on fire at the front and an old Sorcerer (who will remain unpictured until it's done!) setting him aflame.
Oh, and huge dirty flames coming out it's jacksie, so any help of making fire (large or small) will be more than greatly appreciated!

C&C more than welcome :)
And I hope you missed me!

Awww, you haven't told everybody what all the runes spell out. :cries:

Interesting start to the floaty shriney thingy. Flames are tough to sculpt. I recommend you butcher a plastic balrog. ;)

Ooh, updates. This all looks pretty ace Gourax, the Lord conversion looks spiffy and works really well.

I could go through what all 19 of those shields say so far, but I frankly can't be bothered :p
The musician says, "My other shield is a buckler" though

Hmmm, don't really have the dosh to butcher a Balrog, so it's gonna be green stuff.
I think I might cut out some plasticard in the shape of the flames from the smaller disc, and then scuplt on top of that, so I have a basis and am not scuplting on air.

Thanks Shadow, I'm eventually gonna have a unit of Chosen with Flamers bodies, but have neither the time, money nor will, since I've not been using them in game.

Little update, with a competition to boot!

So here's the competition;
If you can translate all of the shields on the 18 Warriors (ignore the Sorcerer) then post them here.

Prize; One Internet.
Cash value = 0.001 pence. This prize is not in exchange for points.

Anyway, to the little update.
After about an hour of painting, my Sorcerer on Disc, Erus Fateweaver (yeah, he beat up the Lord of Change and nicked the name...honest ), is very much underway and I must say I'm mighty pleased with the flames :)

So without futher Much Ado About Nothing (I'm sure I've used that before), here he is.
Note, the second picture is much paler, and the first is much, much closer to the actual tones.

Edit:
Having stared at my disc's green fire, I've decided that whenever the hell I get around to painting/building my chosen (which will probably be quite awhile) they'll all have different coloured bodies. Cause green is awesomes.

Looks good mate. Like it muchly. You do realise that by running a translation competition you'll have to supply us with the right answers once we've horribly failed, don't you?..:p

Meh, I suppose. But if you can make out all 18 in that picture I'll be very surprised ;)
Maybe I should take some in focus shots of them all...

Anyway, how's it going in Sweden?

haukr
11-01-2009, 12:43
Of course you do. :p I'm gonna go ahead and guess one of the shields say "That's what she said", as well as there being one saying "So's your face".:eyebrows:

The going in Sweden is a bit meh at the moment. Still unemployed. Thinking of going back to uni in the autumn. Back to the safety of cold, harsh science.

Hah, well one says Your Mama, so close enough!
No "That's what she said" unfortunately.

There are plenty of quotes, and then some made up gibberish (actually words and stuff, but just stupid :p)

Would update with pictures of my Warshrine (and soon to be a new Exalted on Steed) but my Camera is outta batteries and can't find my charger :cries:
