....having a 5GB upgrade!!!!(not sure how its going to be put on) yes 5GB not 5MB

You see, Blu-Ray reads alot slower than DVD and therefore has longer loading screens. The update is to solve this

You may ask 'blu-ray has like huge space, why the upgrade?' it may be because the game is so huge, i'm not sure.

Also, DMC is 30 on 360 while its 40 on ps3 (on play.com anyway)

Any thoughts on either of these points?

There is no difference between the versions, are you sure it is a 5GB update as the 360 only uses standard dvds for its game media and so that is more data than the whole game disk.

The Hard-drive install is done as a one time thing to effectively remove loading times throughout the game. The difference in loading times therefore compared to the 360 is small but noticable. The 360 isn't getting one because Microsoft do not allow hard-drive installs, or major ones at least, probably because they are whoring out their movies, Xbox Originals etc.

Or because they can't guarantee that all 360's HAVE a hard-drive...

ZOMG BluRay iz teh suxx0rz.

Basically, what vcassano said. And the Xbox version has custom soundtrack. Other than that, judging from the 100 comparisons available, they're the same.

The price difference is for what Sony charges over third-party games.

Yes, that's why they generally refuse to allow developers to do it.

Yep its coz they cant guarrantee a hard drive in a 360. so ps3 gamers get a little added extra for extra bucks i guess..
space on discs is running out fast for the dvd drive on 360, theres just not enough room anymore.
you need the extra space either hd dvd or blu ray gets you. Does the 360 hd dvd add on play ganes or just movies? if its movies the 360's a bit screwed for the future!

Anyone playing the demo yet? Thoughts on Nero? I'm liking his air combat ability with the Devil Bringer and exceed seems interesting.

So far its just a movie addon - it has nothing to do with the games.

It is just a HD-DVD player. One not worth buying since Blu Ray is the format of choice now.
