View Full Version : Has anyone commented the crazy way to asign wounds in the new 5th ed rules?

DIAGRAMMATIC EXAMPLE: A Space Marine squad is
made of five models: two Space Marines armed with
bolters, one carrying a meltagun, one carrying a missile
launcher and one Veteran Sargeant (which is armed
with a bolt pistol and a power fist and also has a
different profile from the rest of the squad). They are
hit by a volley from a nearby enemy squad and suffer
eleven wounds (nine wounds from weapons with low
AP and two from weapons that pierce their power
armour (a plasma gun, for example).
This amounts to two wounds per model, plus a single
spare wound. The controlling player allocates the two
plasma gun wounds and the spare wound on a normal
Space Marine armed with a bolter (he’s trying to
minimise the damage…) and two of the other wounds
on each of the other models. He then proceeds to take
saves for each model individually.

Has this been changed at all? if this rule remains like it shows here it will be way less destructive to shoot for example 8 bolters and 2 plasma rifles than just the plasma.

Not news or rumour, plus there's a deicated 5th ed area now.

Not sure what you mean. This is essentially the Torrent of Fire rule built into the game by default. No more ablative wounds for special weapons/character models if there are enough wounding hits. This helps shooty Tau, Necron, and Eldar units pick out those juicy models before they get assaulted. It also encourages taking larger units.

Isn't this already being covered in other discussions here?

The point i tried to remark is that will be far LESS deadly to shoot a mix of powerful weapons+lowy hand weapons than just shooting 1 type of weapon if the rule stays like that.
