Hi if a character charges say a unit of marksmen that are placed in one long line and he kills all models that his base touches do other marksmen take the place of the casualties or is the character free to overrun? Also how does this work with chariots and impact hits?

You don't remove R&F models specifically to be in BtB. That only is done with either characters or champions.

Remove models from either unit end that are not directly in base to base contact with the charging enemy (analog as for removing models from the rear ranks in ranked units).

So; no overrun, if the the beaten unit does not flee as per normal Ld check, the combat will continue the next turn.

Same for chariots and impact hits.

Indeed, the other models take the place of thos slain. The result is that you rmove models from either end of the unit. You should remove unengaged models in preference to engaged models.

The unit does not split in two due to casualties.

The character only gets an overrun if all the units (not just models) he is fighting are destroyed (e.g. wiped out).

Casualties are removed equally from both ends of a single rank unit. The character is then moved into btb again.
