View Full Version : Titan Legions Background Info

I would like to know more about the following titan legions.

Legio Astraman or The Morning Stars
Forgeworld Garira

Legio Metalica or The Iron Skulls
Forgeworld Metalicus
Princeps Kurt Mannheim, killed on Armegeddon
Heavy Losses on Armagedon

I am far more intrested in the Astraman Legion (I think I could pull of a decent paintjob). I am researching what people have done in the past or what they might know about this legion. I was hoping someone had a nice article or found somthing intresting online that would help me. Perhaps a titan tortorial or background material that partains to the Astraman legion.

Armorcast Reaver Titan

This is very similar to the paint job that I plan to use.

I have the old Codex Titanicus but unfortunately there is no information on the Morning Stars.

There's a reasonable amount about the Legio Metalica though.
It should be clarified that Kurt Mannheim was only temporarily leading the Legion after it's actual Grand Master was (suspected to have been) assassinated.

Mannheim's Titan was named Steel Hammer.
Despite his legion being overwhelmed 3 to 1 Steel Hammer took out three Gargants on it's own before being crippled. Mannheim then marched it into the middle of the Ork forces before it's reactor melted down...
He was posthumously awarded the Emperor's Star.

Actually I think the story is there on Lexicanium, but it's in german.

Metalica itself is also in a dangerously Ork infested part of the galaxy.

Their record of victories dates from even before the Great Crusade and is unsurpassed by any other Titan legion.

Even though it lost all but one of it's Imperator Titan's at Armageddon, most of those lost were later able to be rebuilt by their Tech-Priests.

Legio Astraman (Morning Stars) comes from the FW of Graia. Their colors are green, yellow, and white. Their symbol is a morning star on a blue field.

Legio Metalica is from Metalicus. Their colors are red with either yellow and black stripping or white and black stripes. Their symbol is a grey skull with crosshairs. They were close to being wiped out on Armageddon against the Orks. Princeps Senioris Kurt Mannheim was killed there.

Basically Metalica had all sixteen of their titans on Armageddon. Mannheim took over after the grandmaster of the legio was assasinated. Herman Von Strab (the overlord of Armageddon) ordered Mannheim to go fight the Orks unsupported. Mannheim had to obey. Metalica was outnumbered 3 gargants to 1 titan. Even though the legion destroyed a lot more gargants than the titans they lost, they were almost wiped out. Mannheim (after destroying three gargants) took a badly damaged Steel Hammer (his titan) into the Ork lines where his reactor blew. This coupled with an attack on the Ork flank by Armageddon servitor forces allowed the servitors to recover a few badly damaged machines. Mannheim was awarded the Emperor's Star for bravery and heroism posthumously. Von Strab was declared a traitor. Metalica was rebuilt and returned to Armageddon for Armageddon III.

I wish I could provide more info for you, but there is a huge lack of fluff when it comes to anything titan related. I am hoping that will change with IA7, which is suppose to be AdMech. Even then, the Morning Stars aren't one of the more popular legions. I wouldn't expect much on them.

Legio Astraman is also the Titan Legion I have decided to make as well. So far I am building a skitarri ground force to keep my soon to be titans feet clear.

You can find general information about many of the titan legions here (http://www.scholaprogenium.com/legions.html).
