Hi all,

Just wanted to tap into people's knowledge and experience to find out what the optimum beast herd size is?
How many Gor, how many Ungor, you get the idea...

Depends on what you want to use them for;

I use 5 5 herds with a foe render to ambush as they are cheap so not fussed if disappear and will mop up warmachines pretty easily so do the job intended.
For combat i take character led 7 Gor 12 Ungor to give me a fighting ranks with a few spares and numbers. I think past 20 and you are just wasting points as unweildy and the main killer is panic/leadership based event and although the 25% goes up with numbers it isnt really worth it

agree with above.

The idea is to insure 8 models are gors/characters so they will fill the fighting rank.

6/24 herds can hold most charges and absorb alot of missile fire

I use them as they come out of the box the sizes are right for me then i use another box split in half as the ambushers if i dont use my shaggy champion of tzeech as general.
Best bet is to try out diffrent styles as my play style could be diffrent from yours so try em out.

I have good success with standard out of the box + 1 shaman.

Or 10 gors + 8 gors with champ, wargor and beastlord... Make one of the chars a character killer for challenges and one for fighting units.

I've had a 20 man beastherd + shaman with foe render attack and beat kroxigors (3) head on.

the magic rule for herds is to take enough to survive panic.
I usually take a big unit of 11 Gors and 10 Ungors with FC and for Ambush I take 2 units of 8 Gors and 5 Ungors with a Foe-render.
