I have a couple of questions.

As the spell affects the whole army, do any characters with magic resistance add their dice to the dispell roll? EG, one character has RES 1, and another has RES 2.
Would the owning player add those dice to the dispell attempt,
would they each roll individually to see if they are affected?

Also, if your cast the spell several times, would the spirit hosts form a single unit, or a new unit each time, or indeed could you choose?

No, you have to target a unit specifically to get magic resistance.

And they form a new unit each time.

Well, since Wind of Death does target each enemy unit wouldn't they get MR? I think so. You can only use the best MR though, as MR is never cumulative.

Explorator has it right. If a unit which has Magic Resistance is the target of a spell, even if it is not the only target, its MR dice can contribute to any dispel attempt. Only the highest MR can be used though, they are not cumulative.

This of course makes MR very useful for spells like this (including the Casket of Souls, incidentally).

Oh, well apologies for that, seems a bit silly, one units resistance can stop the whole army getting hit. Kinda makes the spell a bit pointless for what it does.

Never really saw a use for it in small games, maybe against WE, but not much else.

if you play dwarfs their magic resistance is cumulative a maximum of 7 on one unit

Magic resistance is never cumulative. A unit with magic resistance affected (not targetted) by a spell may use its MR-dice to dispel that spell. If several units with MR are affected use the best MR.

dwarfs have cumulative MR, rune of sanctuary and rune of warding but the maximum is 3 (my bad)....actually it could be 4 looking at it:confused:

Magic resistance caps at (3), so you cant get even halfway to 7.
