View Full Version : Good alternatives for death-cult assassins?

According to their description they can be just about anything, so they seem ideal candidates for a replacement. Seeing as you can have up to 9 of them, it'd be a shame to just have 2 repeating assassins.

Does anyone have good ideas for a replacement? Maybe from the fantasy line?

One should be a base of bushes, another a trashcan, a signpost....emmm......

Haven't we seen that with some wonderful ork kommandos around here somewhere...

You could use some catchans here. They look like Rambo, so why not use them as such...

I use malcadon spyrers as alternative DCAs. They look suitably agile and lethal, plus if you have ordo xenos in mind the new fluff makes them very in character.

I used a Dark Elf Beastmaster (mistress, I guess, since she's a female) and tried to mess with the ears to make her less Elfy. Gave her a powersword in the other hand and kept the whip. Added an Inquisition sigil thingie.

You could use some wood elf wardancers. They have two swords like the normal death cultist models. To cover up their elfish facial features, you could greenstuff on some masks, maybe like the ones on arco-flagellents.

That's a good idea. And welcome to Warseer!

Who says they have to look like the original model? Death Cult assassins could easily be subbed for hired hitmen, mafia kill-agents or cyber-gladiators from the pit fights!

As long as your opponent knows that 'this killy looking badass is an assassin' that should be fine.

my deathclut assassins are converted sisters of sigmar (mordhiem) with some darkelf weapons i think. they look similar to the original models, but when next to each other they have a coherent assassin cult look, especially as you cant see too much armour they look ninja-y

I'm actually using sly marbro (did I get the name right?) as an DCA and I'm working on a couple of similarily-looking models to make more of 'em. In my mind DCA's are supposed to be action heoes, hence chuck norris has to be present as do macgyver.

Nah. Easy way to remember is that it's an anagram (right term? I'm not sure) of Syl (Sylvester Stallone) Rambo. Just make sure you have all those letters.

Mordheim Amazons (3 per blister), just replace the shields with chainsword arms from the IG cadian sprues.

I also made some from LOTR Urak-Hai berzerkers, they look like half-naked athletic psychos with huge swords, wearing face-masks... cultist, anyone?

I've used both of the above, they work great. I added dark eldar hair-manes to the urak hai, they work perfect.

Necromunda Spyrers would work great too.

Wych elves would work too.

I used wardancers. Dremelled the leaves off and head swapped with an emperor's children head on back to front and an horse's tail for hair.

While I like the Death cultists, there are a lot of female future ninja miniatures out there. Some examples:

1.) Dark Age Forsaken http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?list=WG81 (several choices: Strike, Shade, X'Cess, Junkers)
2.) Infinity YuJing Ninja: http://www.battlefield-berlin.de/shop/index.php?cat=WG688&product=INF_0024
3.) Rezolution APAC Ninjas http://store.aberrantgames.com/abg3010.html (or Japanese Schoolgirls http://store.aberrantgames.com/abg3002.html ;) )
4.) Urban War Syntha e.g. Antropos http://www.urbanmammoth.co.uk/acatalog/Syntha_Blister_Packs.html
5.) Confrontation Alchemists of Dirz several choices, e.g. Ysis, 2x Sasia Samaris, Crimson Servant http://www.rackham-store.com/boutique_us/liste_familles.cfm?num=4&code_lg=lg_us

I thought of using Watchers of Karna (http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=306052&orignav=300806&ParentID=259824&GameNav=16) from the LoTR line. I liked them when I saw them in WD and plan on using them as 3 of my DCA's in the near future. Great ideas in this thread.

If they have to be told that 'this killy looking badass is an assassin' then you need to do some more converting ;).

Sly Marbo. Another little joke GW likes to scatter about.

Ooh nice. I have to say all of this talk isn't helping to inspire me not to start an Inquisition army. --Must resist...--

Cool mini or not? Definitely cool. :D

I actually thought of using those as Spawn counts-as, three to a base. Then I realized Spawn were absolutely, horrendously useless. But I still like the idea.

This is actually one of the few useful uses for Sisters Repentia - being proxy assassins!

Thats actually my current plan, I have the blister of 3 waiting to be painted. I do like the spryers, watchers of karna, and wood elves too.

I'm also thinking DE assassins would work well, might need their blades swapped to be a little less pointy. The fluff in the DH book really lets you do just about anything.
