Hey everyone.

So Im looking over IA1 as I finish up my armored battlegroup, and I've also been looking around and searching warseer for olds threads. One thing that has popped up here and there is that some shells cost points. This is not in IA1, as it appears shells are free, so does anyone know where to find them?

Thanks!

Imperial Armour Volume 1.

There are also some in Imperial Armour Volume 5.

IIRC, the IAV1 shells are free, but if you want to use them you have to chose your loadout before the battle starts and track which shells have been fired.

Imp Armour Volume One has expanded rules for Battle Cannon, and related large ordnanace ammo, some of which is useful, and some of which is more fluffy.

It also has even more optional rules, for ammo capacity, and availability of certain rounds, which are often ignored, as they add complexity and bookkeeping, without adding much to game play

It was part of trying to make the book seem more 'realisitic' whilst staying in the 41st millenium

So do I understand correctly that I basically just chose one of the shells whenever I fire. So if I want high explosive, just declare it, and same with anti tank?

I agree that while the limited capacity rules would be fun with a few tanks, they seem poorly written. The Demolisher is listed twice with different numbers in the charts for example.

Thanks guys!

I think if you're using the shells in IA1 you should be using the rules for ammo supply etc. as they attempt to restrict some of the more specialist ammo types. If you don't want to use those rules then the special ammo types would just be available where they are listed in unit descriptions\army lists (i.e. shells for Heavy Mortars in IA5)
