Well, here we are.

I guess I better introduce myself, Im Resurrected from Belfast and Im starting this project log. Ive haunted Warseer since it pretty much started up after the Fall, and in an effort to start posting more I thought Id share with you guys my 40K and Fantasy journeys.

So, onto the pictures!

Pet (Syrup)

So its a real log now! Woo!

Right, so things to do. Well, currently on my desk is all I have to paint. Its alot smaller than alot of the guys on here, but I dont allow myself to buy lots without finishing stuff. Anyways, what I have to do is...

- Finish a Blood Angel Combat Squad
- Touch up a Grey Knight Grandmaster (Stern)
- 5 Empire Militia
- Empire Warrior Priest
- Finish 8 of 10 skeletons

Then side projects include...
- 8 Sisters of Battle for a future army (perhaps)
- Paint up a Witch Hunter Inquisitor I knocked up last night (no not like that!)
- Thousand Sons Sorceror
- Ork Warboss

Right this post has gone on long enough now. Ill come up with a few pics of models in a second

:D

Ok, now a few pics to show you what Im doing

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0194.jpg
Finish painting these guys.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0195.jpg
Find a suitable weapon and touch up a few bits and pieces.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0196.jpg
Paint.

And my camera battery has died. Ill have the rest of the stuff up later tonight.

Thanks for looking!

Sisters to be painted for possible future project

Skeletons for my undead army. This army is on the backburner at the minute, but I really love these models, so they might be completed pretty soon!

Well, no comments yet, bit off putting... But anyways, I have another one of those Blood Angels painted, so only two more to go and then Ill get a razorback to finish off the army so far.

Pictures to come later tonight.

Thanks for looking.

Well, no comments yet, bit off putting....
Probably because most of the models posted aren't painted!

I like the Skeletons too, I'm actually tempted to buy a box of them despite not playing VC.

Looks good so far but perhaps the Space Marines could do with more shading/highlights. I'm guessing you're not finished with them yet though before moving onto the unpainted ones.

Resurrected
22-03-2008, 02:06
No those Space Marines are finished, but I like to have their army shiney and the ink washes are kinda killed by the photographs.

If people like I can put up pictures of some of the armies these guys are for?

Mr Feral
22-03-2008, 09:47
I'm seeing lots of mould lines on the Inquisitor, but his swishy hair made me laugh. Darker shading on the BA might improve them as well.

I wish I had a pet snake, it looks really cute....

Resurrected
22-03-2008, 16:07
@Feral - The inquistor does have alot of mold lines, and glue marks which have to be cleaned up, but Ill do that when I get around to painting him.

Anyway, heres the pic of the blood angel I finished yesterday, hopefully you'll see the depth of shading if you look around the helmet and knees. Because I give the blood angels a red ink wash to tie all the highlights together and dont dull coat them, the pictures have a hard time picking up what they look like IRL.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0206.jpg

Ive also taken a few pics of my blood angel army to show what they look like on the tabletop, I hope you'll agree they look a bit better than shown before.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0213.jpg

A few blurry ones there :S You'll see at the back I only have two Space Marines left to paint, then I'll buy their razorback and when thats painted the army is complete to 1000 points! Woo!

Well, Ive still been cracking on here dispite lack of replys. Ive completed another skeleton (you really got to love them) and Ive even painted up a test model for those Sisters of Battle. Pretty simple and striking too methinks.

The Space Marines look very flat to me, especially compared to those new photos.
I really like the Skeletons.

28-03-2008, 21:09
Definitely liking the skeletons - looks like a great paintjob to me. Are they tombkings skellies?

As for the BA's I actually like them too. Will you be trying any weathering effects on the rhino? The tracks look very clean in the photos and a touch of mud and dust could make them really stand out.

What about chapter insignia? I noticed the troops dont have any shoulderpad detail yet - will you be freehanding or using transfers?

Keep it up, you're doing well. :)

@Anodyr - Thanks for the kind words. I am planning on using decals on the BAs, but since Ive never done it before Im a bit dubious, I hear they can be quite tricky. Oh and the skeletons are the new Vampire Counts ones.

Talking about skeletons, Ive managed to finish 2 more between partying and work, so here they are. Thats a full rank of five done now, and shall be put away with the rest of my Vampire Counts army.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0222.jpg

Not the greatest picture but Im tired and itll have to do.

Resurrected
29-03-2008, 17:13
Just a small update, Ive decided to put away all the stuff for future projects, as Im in the mood to concentrate solely on WHFB for the time being. So the Ork, Sisters, Ahirim and my funky little Inquisitor have all been put into the storage box. Once theyr in there... they may never return :O

So still to do then, 2 Blood Angels. When these are done, Ill get the Razorback and paint it up, but then they will also be put away as 'finished'.

Have to buy 3 Chaos Bikers. These guys are for my first army, started way back when the Chaos Marine Codex before the latest one came out. I had the army up to 2000 points, but then decided to rebuild it...And then the current 'dex came out. It totally mucked up my plans, so I need these to get the army to a playable 1000 pts now.

5 Skeletons for the rest of that unit. These guys are great, as soon as I finish them I'll be picking up more undead stuff. Unsure of what though, any input? Its between more skeletons to get a unit of 20, a box of the new dire wolves, a new vampire or an Empire wizard set for a necromancer...

And last but not least... 5 militia and a warrior priest. These guys have been staring at me for a couple of months now, and Im starting to feel the urge to paint them up. Im keeping the Warrior Priest as a little reward when I get them done.

So there we go. Ive to go to work now, so theres very little chance of more pics tonight. Im out tomorrow as well so dont know about then...and then I start Uni again on monday... hmmm gonna be a busy couple of weeks or so.

Well as I said in my last post, Ive been swamped with Uni work, but now its summer! HA! So Ive been motoring through these guys with a paintbrush recently. And onto the pics...

Those pesky Blood Angels

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0265.jpg
This is an old Blood Angel left out of my list, so I used him to experiment with a snow base. Pretty happy with it, so should be basing the rest this way soonish.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0266.jpg
This is my new SoB colour scheme. Inspired by Wulf's cracking log I took these gals out and gave them a makeover. Also repainted the Inquisitor to go with them.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0269.jpg
Finished up the skeletons. Pretty happy with them, though Im thinking theres just too much bronze....

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0270.jpg
And a necromancer! I dug this guy out, swapped swords for a skele one and gave him a new staff to make him a bit more wizardy. Painted green to go with those skeletons, alot better than his origional purple.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0267.jpg
Talking about purple, I got this guy done. I love him. Really. He was so nice to paint after...

Well another day and I have some more painted. This time I managed to complete the last two Empire swordsmen to finish the regiment.

The Proof.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii17/CrankPilot/104_0280.jpg

So, whats left? Well I have a few more random SoBs I scraped together to paint, and then Im gonna have to go and spend money...eek. My gf will kill me...

But anyways, what to buy? Well, a few possibilities.
With the SoBs underway, I have technically three 40K armies on the go. So I could get a blister of bolter toting SoBs and a meltagunner to have a complete squad...or a few Stormtroopers... or the darn Blood Angels razorback to get them to 1000 points... or those *beep*ing chaos bikers.

For Fantasy, I could get a regiment of handgunners for the Empire, closing in on 500 points. Or for the undead, a box of skeletons. Or a box of Dire Wolves. Or a new Vampire... Decisions decisions...

Any input guys?

Well guys, its been a very long time since I worked on anything Warhammer related, mainly due to the fact that Ive started a new job and have been spending all my money on going out. I did however manage to scrape up enough pennies to get these guys, and have painted them within the last week...

Now questions.

Sword of Glory - Yup, abandoned IG placements. Cept for the chaos altar.

Copella - It kinda dissolves and crusts over, but not so much as you cant tell it was powdery.

Nice log you have here Resurrected however it seems you suffer from painters indecision! So many half painted armies, so many unfinished projects! I feel for you as I do exactly the same.

Still what you have done is very nice and it is good to see you stick at the posting even though you may not get the most comments. You will find that if you stick at it people will post in time. So many logs come and go that sometimes a few get overlooked.

If you don't mind some constructive criticism I would suggest trying to water your paints down a little. You clearly have good brush control but I think your paints are too thick and this is spoiling your hard work a little. It is much better to work with a few thin layers than one heavy one.

Still keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more!

Oh and cute snake, corn snake yea? I used to have one that looked very similar. Wonderful animals and full of character.

Spikedog - Thanks for the kind words! I do suffer from painters indecision, all those shiney new armies... but I always try to finish an army to a block of points, 500, 1000, 1500 etc etc.
Thats a good point about watering down my paints though. I try to get everything finished to a tt standard quickly ( so I can get the next thing on my list) and I always use paints out of the pot. It doesnt help living in Belfast where its always wet so I have to undercoat with black paint straight out of the pot too.
When I finish my current armies I will definatly try the watering down paints thing, Ill leave it to start my next army so that all current models have the same painting style.
When watering down your paints do you add water to the brush before dipping in each time or do you just add a little water to each pot as you buy it?

And yea thats my little corn snake Syrup. Shes a little star!

As you can see, its a pretty military based army. Im thinking for the next 500 points adding some small units of cavalry, maybe knights and pistoliers, as well as more militia, some archers or huntsmen, flaggellents and the priest I already have. After that, maybe a sorceror, more state troops, mortars etc. Then I want some monsters! This is all way into the future though, I still have a vampire counts army to work with, and I have to get that razorback for my Blood Angels...

Hey mate! I really like the diorama of yours. In terms of critique - I reckon you could give the feathers a wash, its just one colour at the moment which is a little flat if you know what I mean. You could also make one or two extreme highlights on the cloth areas just to give him some more 'pop'.

In terms of the tank commanders torso - Ebay has been delivered to us for a reason :P
