Hello again. Well, I'm back with the second battle report between the Ogre Kingdoms and Vampire Counts as promised....'The Grudge Match'

I've expanded the format and included Army lists for reference, and even put decent Movement Arrows on the images! It's taken quite a bit longer to do this time, but I reckon it was worth it.

Check it out here - http://peegorespage.awardspace.com/

As ever, any comments or thoughts are welcome. Just try not to hurt our feeling too much....

Peegore.

Cheers Pauduro!

There will be a few reports coming in the near future. Hopefully Mick's Vamps vs Darryls High Elves ( assuming he gets a report together ), and Thursday I'll be going around to Darryls for a Bash. I'll be taking ogres again, but I think I need to start using another army....it's maybe getting a bit samey!

In future I'm going to post all reports to one thread ( Titled Peegores Batreps, or something ). Will keep things tidy.

Anyhow, glad you like the reports and site, and keep looking in and keep posting!

Both battles were really enjoyable to read, Peegore, thanks for putting them up.

Great to see the use of your own scenarios as well, might have to try my hand at that myself. Have you considered picking objectives first, and then designing lists to specifically carry out those objectives? It could make for another interesting alternative.

In every report I read, the Varghulf shows it's skill... I might need to try and find a way to get one in my own army!

@darkmage99. Yes, I had thought about tailored lists. We've done them before, in 6th edition especially. But I wanted to find a compromise that didn't require too much army pre-construction. If anything, using the cards sort of encourages bringing balanced list, as you don't know if you'll be attacking, defending, assassinating etc. And usual VP scoring is out of the window. It becomes all about unit usage and sacrifice. Proper Wargaming;)

But tailored scenarios with specific army lists can be great, especially with a load of pre-game hype and banter!

Don't get me started on the Varghulf. I used to think I hated the Tomb Scorpion. Somehow this trumps it...

Oh btw, I like what you've done with the 'Dread Elves'!

Thanks for the report Peegore, very enjoyable. I caught a couple rules thingies when I read it yesterday, but I'm sure they were piddly wee issues so no matter. In fact, I may have hallucinated them or something

On the site, are you able to move the right frame with the Lycos ad? I assume you have to have the ad block there, but could you put it into a bottom frame or something? I ask as it really crushes the center frame where the reports and such are, and (at least here at work) I don't always have the screen real estate to max the width of the page. Ahhhh, and looking at the page now it looks like the 'shout out' box is now fixed and fits within it's frame - when I looked yesterday it was all messy and wrapping text like crazy.

@boss_salvage. Rules thingies!?! We NEVER get rules wrong ( snigger.. ). Possibly did. I'd be interested to know what they were if you can remember... I'ts a continual learning curve even after all these years.

Hmm, the Lycos Banner Bar. I can't block it cos it'll get the site removed under terms of agreement. And the shout box did go squiffy for a short while, but I didn't change anything, so who knows....seems OK now. I test the pages in IE7 and Firefox, so I don't know why you are getting screen compression probs:confused:

I'm definitley changing hosts ASAP. Will update when I do...

Glad you liked the reports otherwise...

Nice report again. It's funny to think after the Giant put the Skeleton champion into his bag, the Champion could then be resurrected back into the Skeleton unit...

Here's one:

"The skeleton unit that charged Belly McBelly in the rear failed to wound, whereas he caused 1 wound in return. Yes he was beaten by a fai amount, but that didn't matter. He had taken the Trollguts spell effect with him when he left the unit. He rolled under the Stubborn Ld7 required quite easily."

First off, you mean he had toothcracker not trollguts, but I call every spell toothcracker personally so fair enough :p More to the point, do ogre characters who leave buffed units take the buff with them? I don't have my book with me, but I would have bet they don't and have to be rebuffed or rejoin the unit.

That's all I can find, I think I was remembering an inappropriate overrun move by the Varghulf from the first game and putting it in here ...

And the issue with frame squishing is because I don't view at full screen. Even on at 1280 x 1024 that means the center frame gets squished and has to be scrolled over, as there isn't text wrapping apparently.

Toothcracker for Stubborn, aye. However, When a character leaves a unit that had Gutmagic cast on it while they were in it the effect stays with either the unit, or the character, at the owner's discretion.

Ah so. Sucks to be you, butcher escortin' bulls :(

The butcher took the (Toothcracker :o ) spell with him, as Merculese said, it's at owners discretion when butcher left unit ( cleared up in official GW FAQ on their errata website as I recall )

Don't get the 'sucks to be you' comment, but then I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer sometimes; but the butcher left the unit on a charge against the vampiress because the whole unit he was in would never have made the charge ( they would have clipped the wood and been slowed down ).

The spell was more use to him than on a unit that was trying to maneouver back into the game past a wood.

But a healthy debate over rules and their application never hurt anyone!

Well done for spotting the Spellname mistake. You shall receive a special mention the website...:)

Sucks comment was in regards to leaving the carrier unit high and dry, but you note good reasons why they didn't need the toothcracker. Good call.

And w00t for website metion :D

I have changed all links in my posts to the new URL ( also in my sig. ) Seems the Ad banners on the last site were annoying a few people. So here we go...no ad banners whatsoever.

If anyone has bookmarked the old address ( yeah right:rolleyes: ) I'll be keeping that updated simultaneously for a while, then closing it.

Right, I'll stop typing now cos I could be seen by some as bumping my own threads...

Great report, sad to see your tyrant didn't tenderize any vampire characters... but it looked like a fun game.

No ads = happy times :D

And I laughed at the shout out and my unofficial nomination! But since it's my job ... the headings for the "Ogre Kingdoms" and "Profiles on us" pages say "Your Heading Goes Here" still, need to have their <title> tags filled in ;)

Title tags - Fixed. Cheers B.Salvage. See; worth every penny we don't pay him...:)

I'm looking forward to giving Darryls High Elves a taste of my tenderiser tomorrow. It's bored with the taste of cold, dark vamparic blood. For now. It will be an objective based game again, so I must concentrate more than in my last game.

Hope the site isn't turing too much into a lads mag. Trying to fing that fine line between seriousness and frivolity...
