The plan is to Skitterjump the assassin behind some unexpecting artillery, and wipe them clean out. Or, I think he's beefy enough to be a real asset when hidden within a squad of rats. The ^ ^ Mean attached too.

Let me know what you all think, The list feels pretty solid from this angle... But who knows?

Please comment! I love to hear any feedback!

ok, I have played a lot of skaven, bear in mind that any of my comments can be overidden for fluff reasons or personal preference

quick list of things I have learned:
-assassins suck, there is no other word for it, if you want to have fun with skitterleap, use a chieftain (kind of useless as well but at least he is cheap) or a warplock engineer with brass orb (this one can be a nasty surprise for steam tanks and slanns).

-if you are going to take a chieftain, make him the battle standard bearer. Rerolling leadership is priceless.

-clanrat champions are relatively useless, keep them if you must, but if ever you are looking for points, get them there

-Rat ogres suck in a bad way, I have tried using them in various ways, they are just generally overcosted and underperforming.

Now some more personal ones, I like hordes and find them more efficient, so I would maybe consider a warlord, and definitely use 3 units of clannies and 3 units of slaves at least (I go 4 and 4 in 2000 points).

Anyways, dont take it the wrong way, but those are my observations, maybe try to rearrange the list and see what you can get.

Thanks for your advice, I'll change my shopping plans up a bit. Seems like I'll need three more boxes of Clanrats... Don't worry about buying any rat ogres? So, Kill the assassin... And replace with another chieftian.

Should I just forget the whole skitterleap strategy?

For a second rare choice, would another Warp Lightning cannon be worth it?

My primary army is Night Goblins, So I understand the power of a horde army. Don't get me wrong. ;)

Thanks, And continue to comment away! I feed on this stuff. ;)

the BSB should go in the stormvermin and the seer should go see clannies

the BSB in vermin gives you + 8 static CR (I play 25 generally, always with shields, so WS4, 3+ save and +8 CR)

I suggest replacing the other chieftain by another warplock engineer and the storm demon is pretty much a no brainer on one of them. If you want to skitterleap, put brass orb on one of the engineers.

not sure about skavenbrew, do you really want a frenzied lvl 4 mage? also, skaven dont win by kills in combat, they win with CR and kills on magic and shooting (except maybe the monks and censers). You want to keep control of your units generally, so skavenbrew seems like a liability. You might want a ward save on the seer to save him from himself, the 3+ versus shooting tends to be very nice as the warplightning hits count as magic missile hits.

again, not sure about the champions, I would field 2x5 night runners and no champ, the extra attack isnt worth it.

if you need points maybe ditch the globadiers, they dont add much I dont think.

I need to remake a skaven list for tournaments, so I'll post it up soon

Any comments, suggestions, critiques, words in print?

you probably want some equipment on the seer (like a ward save)

3 ratlings you will have trouble screening so maybe drop one or two

I am not a fan of giant rats because of the lack of save, but they can work.

Otherwise the list is looking pretty solid

and I said I was going to post a list, this is it (only 2 k):

i would drop the 2nd hand weapons on the night runners, seriously they arent gonna kill anything anyway and its a waste of 20 pts

- split the globes into 2 units
-Ratling guns are a iffy investment, any army that can shoot or cast magic and can draw los to them (which to tbh isnt to hard) can target them and kill them in 7th edition. Now if your enemy has a single unit of 10 bowmen on a hill you can expect all your ratling guns to die before they get a change to fire.

- give the seer items!

- i dont like the monks in this list, the only reason to take plague monks is to put a plague priest with a censer in the unit, or to take plague censer bearers you did neither. Id drop them and the giant rats (a 20 man unit of anything skaven is a bad idea panics to eeasy and loses ld too fast,) Get a tunnel team of 5-6 men with posioned hand weapons and add 25clanrats and 25 slaves.

- give the warlock with storm daemon the warpstone charm

- give the other warlock eye of the horned rat, maybe a dispel scroll as well

- if theirs points left over, id suggest bringing the jezzails to 9 men strong units so they dont panic as easily.

i would keep the champions as they can save your characters from getting annihilated in challenges, and if they don't get challenged at least you can rely on getting two attacks. Drop the spears on the units, it has been my experience that your Clanrats need the additional saving throw. Dropping the spears should make it so that you would be able to take units of 30 (you need outnumber). Give your Grey Seer some protection. And I agree with fubukii about the Plague monks.
