Probably a really dumb question but what do Tournaments play at points wise, 2250 or 2000? Even though I'm not planning on playing in any I was wanting to know for purposes of constructing my army to play at my local shop. Also sorta off topic, what point value do you guys prefer to play at?

What you need to do is ask your local game shop. Unlike some games Warhammer does not have a "standard" tournament point setup. The most common is 2k or 2.25k but unless running one of the official GW tournaments they are not restricted to that size. I'm thinking about trying to organize a Warband .5k tournament at my local shop.

2000 used to be the standard/norm size tournament army. Recently a shift is being made to 2250 as the standard size. Like Mercules said, you need to ask what your local stores run. The difference between 2000-2250 is not much though. Composition remains the same. You can either beef some units up and/or maybe add another unit from 2k->2250. In my opinion, build a 2k if you dont know. Its always easier to add then to take away :)

When I lived in Cardiff, both the local GW and the local club ran their tournaments and league games at 1500, while the Newport store (30 minute bus ride) ran a 3000 point League. I've now moved to the other side of the border to work, and the norm around here is 2500, both at my FLGS in westbury and at the GW gaming room in Bath.

So yeah, ask your local store. Personally, I would build a 2000 point army and then get a 250 point unit that you can add if you need to.
