I'm helping my wife design a wood elf army.

A question I have is if I put a hero on a horse with a bow and then stick him in a unit of infantry, can he still shoot if the unit moves 9 inches? That means that the unit marched but the character on horse back didn't. So, could he still fire a bow if they sacrifice 1" of their movement to keep him from marching?

Pretty sure he can, as he hadn't marched.

*edit*
Seems if the unit marches theyn cant shoot missle weapons anymore.
As he is part of the unit, he cant shoot missle weapons anymore.

No, he cannot shoot, as the unit marches, not the individual. p.15 BRB

Have to agree with Festus here. The character takes all of the actions of the unit he is in, so if they march, he counts as marching, even if he wouldn't normally do so because of his movement value.
