I just saw somethign on the forums here that mentioned something tha interested me. It said that combat res is only gained from kills, NOT wounds. Is this true? I play ogres you see, so that would be very useful. We have always played it as wounds caused in combat.

Also, when bolt throwers shoot something, do they have to actually kill the model to go through or just wound?

Wounds, not casualties : "Each side scores a number of combat result points equal to the wounds caused in the combat" p37

Killed, not wounded: "If the first model hit is slain" p90

Wounds and kills are not the same thing, and combat resolution is based on wounds.

Ah, weve been playing it right then. Thanks for that.

I can see you're confusion though. The differientiation is between saved and unsaved wounds. Only unsaved wounds count towards combat resolution. Seeing as how that tends to mean death for most infantry units it gets shorthanded to 'kills'.

Bolt throwers have to kill the model they hit to carry on going through ranks.
