I'll be taking a Norse team to the GT in Nottingham in 2 weeks time so I'm looking for some suggestions on what to take and how to develop my team.

I've got a full 16 strong squad with all positionals, so model wise it's no problem.

So far I have

1 Snow Troll (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001148.jpg) 140K
1 Ulfwerener (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001120.jpg) 110K
1 Berserker (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001139.jpg) 90K
1 Runner (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001140.jpg) 90K
1 Thrower (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001132-1.jpg) 70K
6 Lineman (http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c157/spubbbba/BloodBowl/S6001127.jpg) 300K
2 Re-rolls 120K

Total so far 920K

So that leave me with 80K to play with, i could get a 12th player, hire an apoth, get a Re-roll and/or upgrade linemen to positionals. I really want to have 1 of each positional, if i wanted to be super competitive I'd probably drop the Troll, but I'm very pleased with the conversion so he has to make it into the sqaud, and I want at least 1 od each positional too.

I'm tempted by a 3rd RR and either 2FF or a making a lino a 2nd thrower.

Also you get to give 1 player a skill after each game so 5 total.
So far I'm thinking.

1st Thrower - Leader (if I only have 2 RR's) maybe sure hands but after block for the Ulf
2nd Ulfwerener - Block
3rd Runner - Dodge
4th Berserker - Stand Firm (or maybe guard/ Mighty Blow)
5th Snow Troll - Mighty Blow (maybe Guard too)

if i don't already have 1 a 3rd RR is a priority and after that the ulf getting block, the other skills are harder choices.

Stand firm is nice on the Berserker for surfing and MB would get great for the Troll as claw is useless vs AV7. Tackle for someone would be nice too should i meet zons and elves later on.

I mostly play LRB4 on fumbbl and have never used the new Norse. So any interesting suggestions for a LRB5 non-progessional Norse team would be greatly appreciated.

Don't waste your time with the Apoth. In LRB5 tourneys they are useless cause the player is still removed from the game.

If you went with leader on the thrower, I'd upgrade a lino to another Ulf. And the skills would go like this

Leader - thrower
Guard - Ulf
Guard - Ulf
Guard - Snow Troll
Whatever - Whoever

I 2nd this, with this style set up you will win the line and there are not many teams with guard and block standard so that will really make up for your lack of armor

Geez, what a noob, what a crappy nick.

I wouldn't ever go to the GT with norse and fewer than 12 players, 13 or 12 + apoth is ideal, especially when your linemen are cheap and excellent (and yes, apoths are worth it as a substitute for a 13th player). Given that its of reasonable standard I assume you're set on taking the snowtroll. I'd go for...

1 Snowtroll - 140k
2 Ulfwerners - 220k
1 Berzerkers - 90k
7 Linemen - 350k
1 Thrower - 70k
2 Re-rolls - 120k
1 Cheerleader - 10k

After leader focus your skills on guard, block and maybe a single surehands lineman. The blitzer and Troll should get the guard (troll first, he will still be standing at the start of your turn, his guard compliments the blitzer, and he might get a 3D block if he assists the guys next to him in removing players) and with the two ulwerner I'd go for block unless you're really fond of guard (and turnovers).

If you're not set on the troll and fancy going for the competitive option which should save you from the bottom places then I'd ditch the troll altogether

2 Ulfwerner - 220k
2 Berzerkers - 180k
3 Re-rolls - 180k
1 Thrower - 70k
7 Linemen -350k

Maybe drop a re-roll for an extra linman. With the extra re-rolls and more reliable players you can get block or guard quicker or have more spare re-rolls to deal with difficult plays. Use frenzy as a substitute for tackle and strip ball.

I'm pretty sure that under LRB5 that even though the player is healed from his injuries, he still has to miss the rest of the game. And when you are playing in a tournament, you are still at loss for the player.

Now I might be wrong, so check the rules.

If a player is badly hurt after the use of the apothecary then they are placed on the reserves bench.

That means its useful for healing a badly hurt lineman (cos then you got your money back) or a badly hurt positional (value gained) or the first injured/dead positional (gamble on value gained) or the first injured/dead lineman (if you think you need to).

An apothecary is a gamble on what type of injuries you're going to take. Always better as a replacement for a 13/14th player because otherwise a single KO will reduce your team to ten.

Ok, for some reason I thought the player still had to miss the rest of the game.

Well after a few practice games it seems that AV7 doesn't last long and even the AV8 guys break pretty easy.

The Snow Troll hasn't been exactly fantastic, but he's still staying.

The Runner and Ulfwerener have both done well, so the line up I'm looking at now is

1 Snowtroll - 140k
2 Ulfwerners - 220k
1 Runner- 90k
7 Linemen - 350k
1 Thrower - 70k
2 Re-rolls - 120k
1 Fan Factor - 10K

For skills i'm less decided, so far

1st Thrower - Leader
2nd Ulfwerener - Block
3rd Snow Troll - Guard
4th Ulfwerener - Block
5th Runner - Dodge

I could throw a sure hands or kick lino in there somewhere
