Does a Braystaff provide +2AS vs Missile fire?

Since it says that you get to choose which way to use it at the beginning of the close combat phase (which comes after the shooting phase) I would say no, you cannot use it against shooting attacks.

...unless you are fighting Skaven, are in an ongoing fight where you have previously choosen the +2 save mode of the staff, and they fire into combat under the "life is cheap" rule... :)

Damn those pesky skaven and their total ignorance of the rules of warfare! ; )

do you also get hw/shield bonus against skaven shooting in the front as you are in close combat? ;) (I think there is stated 'close combat attacks' but... would be a nice idea)

Nah, Handweapon+shield on p.56 BRB makes a note of it not affecting other things than close combat.

(and really, the Braystaff should play out similarily, but as is is not actually worded something like "counting as a hand weapon shield", it is ATM not..)

Of course it shouldn't. If that was the case raiders would rank up to a minimum of 5 wide etc ;)

Brays just got a little extra adrenaline surging through the body when fighting, so they're obviously capable of bullet/arrowdodging with their sticks :cheese:
