On the map, the continent to the west is sector 1, and the continent to the east is sector 2 of the hive world.

It's good but Dark Eldar don't invade, they just raid.

A raid on a planet in large numbers is the same thing as an invasion isn't it?

ZiggyTempest

Well Kind of except for the fact that I doubt they'd stick around afterwards. They wouldn't become involved in long sieges or that kinda thing either.

Does it make the fluff incorrect, or is it just not likely?

Well the Dark Eldar would find it hard to justify invading a planet.

maybe you should tweak the bit about the guardsmen becoming marines...unless they were junior enlistments or conscripts, as most guardsmen would otherwise be too old to become marines.

Do they have sufficient numbers to invade a good-sized populated world, with standard Imperial defences?

Probably yes, but I doubt that they'd choose to. They'd much rather pick on softer targets.

Story has been edited...
About 1270 years ago, the Imperium colonized a world in the Yayan system. The world became known as Yayan III. Over the years, other worlds were colonized, but Yayan III's population continued to grow at a fast pace. The planet was in a state of peace until around 413 years ago, when a Chaos Space Marine chapter known as the 'Crimson Destroyers' attacked the world.
Thankfully, during those years of peace, a Space Marine chapter formed. They were called 'Yayan Defenders'. They fought back the Crimson Destroyers and drove them out of the system.
More recently, an ork tribe known as Gogrot's Bloodspillas' has invaded. Seeing this as a opportunity to attack Yayan III again, the Crimson Destroyers have returned.
The war has started...

Well instead of saying a chapter formed there, perhaps say that a chapter recruits from the planet and in return they have made the planet their home.

Are they a successor chapter?

Are they a successor chapter?
Whats that?

Does their history say from which of the original Space Marine chapters they came from?

omera

No. Are they required to form from an existing chapter?

all chapters of the imperium are based on the hand-me-down geneseed from a former parental legion.
some people like to mention which legion their chapter was a decendent from, like black templar and crimson fists, being successors of the imperial fist legion (now chapter)...it really doesn't matter.

I'll edit that than.
